Default Rear Axle Bump Stop

Hi Guys,

Today while rotating the tires, found the bump stop is hitting the edge of the bump stop on both sides. Should I be concerned with this? I have room to adjust the control arms in if need be.

I am interested in hearing replies from others. I don't think you would want to adjust your control arms if your axle is centered within the wheel well already. I think some bump stops for the rear are angled to account for this. I have the adjustable ones from metalcloak and they stair step forward.

I don't understand what you're asking? The bumps are doing their job and you're not sure that's ok?

Look, you'll get a crap ton of replies. In the end, you have to figure it out for yourself. Cycle the suspension and adjust as needed.

Control arms have nothing to do with the bump stops.

The fact that there is contact, indicates they are doing their job.

In the pic it looks like it is striking the inside edge of the stop. On the rear passenger side that you haven't shown, is it striking the outside edge of the stop (closest to passenger shock)? If so, I understand what you're asking because it would indicate your axle may be shifted to the driver side.

They are fine. Don't touch anything.

Nothing to be concerned about. It is due to pinion correction and the rotation of the axle that throws all of your brackets off. The way to fix is to cut off the brackets and realign them and weld them back on for your lift height/pinion angle.

Yeah, this is correct. I didn't see the angle in the picture was looking at the axle from the side - I though it was from the back. Cut and rotate and you will be all set.

Should have explained the issue a little better. After posting yesterday, thinking a little more into the qestioning, the bump stop is hitting the edge of the plate bump stop on the axle. The location were it's hitting is located at the same location on both sides and my rear axle is centered. The axle tilt on the drive line is straight inline. The wheel seems to be centered in the wheel well. Now after thinking more into the question is my 1310 drive line splines engaged enough? Wondering if I need to push the axle forward more so the bump stop is hitting the middle of the bump stop plate? Like one post prior, I may need to adjust myself to figure out????

There was some good discussion on previous posts.

You should have 1.5"-2" of splines showing at rest. Really your bumps are not an issue to worry about

I guess what I'm worried about is the placement of the axle (correct location). I'll just remove the rear drive line and move it back and forth, see how much play there is and see if I need to move the axle forward. The bump stop was to show where it's hitting.

Thanks for the advice.

By chance would anyone know the torque setting for the allen head screws on the rear drive line on the axle? Have a old picture....
