Default ProComp 1069 Aluminum Wheels (Centercap - Polishing ??)

So I just got my new wheels in and I have a question or two.

Firstly:
The Centercaps have a little black gasket, does that stay in ??

It keeps the centercap from fully seating, but I'm sure the lug nuts would squish it enough to not be a problem ?

Secondly:
Has anyone Gave these things a good polishing ?
