It looks like it either fits or very little to alter it to make it fit. What are your thoughts guys.

Someone on this product's review supposedly fit it to a 2013 JK.

Amazon.com: Air Ram Intake System Snorkel Kit for 2007-2011 Jeep Wrangler Jk 4x4 Off Road 08: Automotive

Seems to be an AEV knock-off. (or AEV supplier?)

Watchit tho!!!

AEV actually makes 2 models:
40306220AA for 07 - 11
40306160AA for 12 - 15

The real thing here:
http://www.quadratec.com/products/17100_011X_PG.htm

So apparently there is a difference. This may explain why it fits some and not others.

I've had the Chinese snorkel purchased off ebay for maybe 3 years now. I bought it when they first came out it fits fine and I've had not one bit of trouble since I installed it. Actually it's the only piece of black plastic on my jeep exterior that hasn't faded one bit in the intense Florida UV rays.

Edit... Oops just saw that you have a 3.6! I have a 3.8, sorry guys...

There's actually a simple answer to this. The 3.6L produces about 100hp more than a 3.8L. Without getting into complex engineering discussion, the obvious is that the 3.6L requires more air. That's the main difference in the AEV snorkels - the 3.6L version has a larger tube.

Simple takeaway: you need a 3.6L version because it requires more air flow. Sure, make the other one work and starve the engine of air, thereby reducing power.

This is one topic I will never understand. If you're buying a snorkel because you plan to use it, why in the world would you cheap out and risk a $10k disaster?!

I agree. A snorkel is one part I would not cheap out on. Why risk a leak and engine failure? Blows my mind. That is, unless you never plan to use it and just bought it to look 'badass'. I had a buddy who had the knockoff AEV. He never could get it to seal correctly. Got rid of that pos and got the AEV. Never had another issue.

Thanks for the info. Just always looking for ways to save money you know? I totally see your points and think they are valid, quality, and air volume. i guess AEV it is.

Isn't the AEV snorkel also made in China?

Nope, AEV says they make everything in the US, except the wheels.
