Default Wild Boar JK Roof Rack and relocated HID's

Just got a Wild Boar Roof Rack (actually two of them) and installed them on the JK. The quality is decent but there are two concerns. The first package was missing the pan-head bolts that keep the rack together. eithr in total, I had to go to Home Depot and get some new ones. (1/4x20, 3/8 in long). I found myself stuffing ribber spacers between the frame and the rack to prevent it from becoming a rattle trap.

The second rack, I don't know what the hell the factory did, but only 4 of the 8 tabs line up for mounting the basket to the frame. So... instead of being secured by 8 bolts, it is merely secured by 4. It appears the factory welded the front and back tabs on the wrong side of the supports, making each tab about 4" off.

Other than that, these Wild Boar racks are very nice. Oh... I had two Vision X HID lights mounted to Mopar windshield brackets - not anymore. It seems the down tubes for the Wild Boar racks like to interfere. So, if you have windshield lights and want to keep them, find a different rack. Overall, the look of the JK is made more aggressive.

Does it swivel back so you can take the top off? Will it work with a soft top?

When will a roof rack company make a rack that has built in windshield light tabs. It seems as popular as they are on Jeeps that someone would have done that by now.

nice rack...

j/k. but that is a nice cargo rack, despite it not being complete from the factory.

oh, and i bet if you had the KC light mounts which are up and in rather then the mopar ones, the lights would probably still fit.

Nice looking rack! What are the overall dimensions (length width height)? Can you still remove the freedom top panels? Oh, and what are those rails? Thanks!

"Also, please give some 1st impressions. Wind noise, rigidity etc."

For the price, these things are phenominal. I tried one of the test vehicles out and took it over a washboarded dirt road. Not a single creak or moan out of the rack. As it turns out, when I went to the distribution center, I grabbed the wrong box, so the basket not lining up with the frame is my fault. The pan heads, however, were just a minor annoyance and was far worth it for the quality of the rack.

The wind noise is very good - I have a Land Rover LR3 for my personal vehicle. It has the expedition package (winch, roof rack...) and that damed rack is just the loudest thing you've ever heard. The Wild Boar is a mute in comparison.

I will post additional photos tomorrow, along with some mistakes I made installing the first, so you don't have the same issues (like measuring from the wrong place and drilling where you shouldn't be...
