Default Mastercraft courser mxt 35's or 33's

I like the look of these tires and are trying to decide what to put on my dd. I plan on going with the 15x8 wheels. The weight difference in the tires is only 3 pounds(60 and 57). I have stock 3.73 on a 08 and dont plan on changing that till it is paid off in a couple of years. Will the 35 12.5 15 bog down my jeep too much at that weight and size. A little would be fine. Current setup 275/70/17 cooper st on stock wheels.

On any daily driver, I would stick to 33s. weight is a little heavier, but the rotational mass is much greater.

Some people are ok with 35's on a 3.8 with stock gearing, others aren't. None of us can tell you how you will feel. (What gears does it currently have. Which transmission. How and where do you normally drive. At elevation. Flat terrain at sea level. All in town. A bunch of high speed freeway. What are your specific preferences and tolerances as far as performance goes. etc ... etc ... etc ...) Spend some time reading through a few hundred of the thousands of 'should I regear?' threads that are already here.

There is a good rpm chart in the faq's that will give a good indication of how much rpm you will lose. If you have a stick, plan on running in 5th instead of 6th. If you have an auto, plan on pushing the od/off button as soon as you start it every day.

I have a manual with 3.73. I would say I drive 70% highway with some good amount of hills. Nothing too long though. I have read a lot of the threads. Just weighed my current set up and they were just over 76 pounds so the 35 set up would be 4-5 pounds more.

I'm looking to go to the same tires as you. I have an 08 with 3.73s and a manual. Currently in running 35x12.50r15 General Grabber Red Letter on 15x8 steel wheels. These are a real heavy tire (74lbs each) and it is definitely bearable as a DD. Can't speak if you have an auto though. I think with the Courser's you'll be better off than me because of the weight. If I were to do it all over again, I would get aluminum wheels instead (lighter and look nicer) with the Courser MXTs in the same size. Discount Tire has a thread on here for 15" wheels that will fit.

Yeah I'm looking to go aluminum rims which for 15x8 seem to weigh between 20-22 pounds

Good idea. I'm a fan of the TKO's. Once my Grabbers wear out I'm going to them with the Mastercrafts. Let me know what you think of the set up then!
