Whats the difference between the 3.73 down and the 3.73 up locker? Is there a way to use this locker with 4.88 gears?

 

3:73 and down means gears numerically higher but lower in ratio. ie, 4:56's , 4:88's , 5:13's , 5:38's.......Vise versa for Up....
