Default TeraFlex 3' lift with 8 flex arms ?

Hello everyone

I have a couple of guestions about this Teraflex lift kit #1156300.

First do you need a new front trackbar with this kit?

Do I need the exhaust spacer with this kit?

When talking with the shop that I bought the system through we also talked about there long arm system also. I think there was some confusion because they didn't talk about a new front track bar but said I needed the exhaust spacer.

There is the new drop bracket for the rear trackbar but nothing for the front.....so what do I need or don't need with this kit?

Thanks in advance

Easy answer first... Exhaust spacers, if you have a '12+, then yes you will need them. If you have a 3.8l then no you don't.

Front track bar, no it isn't included. I really can't give you a reason why (may want to ask TF), in my opinion is that yes it should be required for a 3" lift. This isn't the only kit or manufacturer not to offer any provision for the front TB with their kit, EVO Mfg. is the same way.

Do you want the front axle centered? If so, get an adj trackbar. If you don't care, don't worry about it. (As long as it doesn't cause clearance issues on one side due to that tire being tucked in further than the other side, anyway. Guess that will depend on tire size, wheel backspace, etc.). My suggestion would be to go ahead and get one and center that axle.

Exhaust spacer, might depend on your usage. If it is not contacting and you are onroad only, may not be an issue. But, flex it and check the clearance. If it's too close, or contacting, get the spacer or go to an exhaust shop and have it rerouted.

The rear roll center seems to be the more important of the two. Many kits provide for only the rear, probably just because of the cost associated with doing the front correctly. (adding a front raised trackbar bracket also involves flipping the draglink. Or a new RHD bar plus a lowering bracket. Or a drop pitman plus a lowering bracket...). If you want a flip/high steer, research it and buy the extra parts. But drive it with the lift and decide if you want/need before just pulling out the credit card.

I just installed this kit a week ago on my 2014 JKU (except I chose the 4-arms version instead of the 8-arm at the suggestion of Teraflex and Northridge4x4). You'll definitely want the exhaust spacer if you have a 2012 or up JKU. I also (again, at the advice of both Teraflex and NR) opted for the adjustable front track bar (the rear isn't needed with this kit).

It's a good kit and pretty straightforward to install. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Installed this last June 600 miles on the jeep
You need the exhaust spacers
I drove it for 19000 before I put a adjustable track bar on. It did fine.

Yeah thought I would need the exhaust spacers since I have a 2014 JKUR with 15K miles on it

So I really don't need a front trackbar right away? The stock one works ok in the factory location
I don't want any bad vibration or screwing up my tires because I didn't spring for a new adjustable one. This is my DD and do take some longer highway trips.

I'm going to run my OEM Rubicon wheels with the 1.5" Spider Trax wheel spaces I bought...not sure what size tire i'm going with yet just might run the stock BFG mud's that game on the Jeep untill I need to replace them.

we have done a dozen road trips consisting of 500 to 1400 miles... all had some amount of off roading involved. No vibration issues at all... I usually go 70-75mph and sometimes 80... Avg is low 70's..
I put the synergy track bar on over XMAS and also did some beefing up of the front end... which wasn't due to the axle being off center which was off by I think by about 1"... Not saying it shouldn't be done.. I didn't have issues at all.
I beefed up the front end so when I get bigger tires it could handle it...

It's a good lift... And I have beat the heck out of it..

I got the terraflex 3 inch with all 8 and could not be happier. I also got the terraflex trackbar. Did lots of research and this was the kit for me. Feels good onroad and and does great offroad too. Click image for larger version

Skip the adjustable track bar and go straight for an EVO or Synergy drag link flip kit. They will raise your track bar mounting point about 3" on the axle. With a 3" lift the factory track bar is a perfect fit. A drag link flip will make a big improvement in your handling, particularly when going around curves on the road.

Also, you can run with just rear upper and front lower arms and save some $$$. Consider a 4-arm kit.

Skip the Teraflex springs. They are too stiff! I ran them for a while and they are rough. Stiff springs = rough ride no matter what shocks you pair them with. Look for some dual rate coils from Evo, Synergy, Metal Cloak, etc.

Good luck either way you go.
