Anyone running it on their rig? Ran across it on quadratec and couldn't find any reviews on it. Been looking for a skid to protect my oil pan and for the price doesn't seem too bad.

 

No one? I guess I might have to be the guinea pig. I have the option of a rugged ridge skid as well. Any opinions or first hand experience with the rugged ridge skid?

 

I'm interested in one too, I've recently improved the clearance of my oil pan....

 

I checked the oil after wheeling and I was almost 2 quarts over, what the hell?

Damn that is what I am trying to avoid.

 

My idea was to run the Rockhard oil and trans system, i was just procrastinating when, and i just got an invitation for some camping/wheeling tomorrow, totally unplanned, but what the heck, it'll be fun, so i decided to drive to 4wp warehouse to see if i could score the skids today (had a coupon and nobody else had $hit around same day).

They didn't have the Rockhard oil/trans skid in stock, only the Rockhard evap canister one, so i picked that one, and since i needed something basic at least to have a skid in there , i ended up buying the Rubicon Express oil pan skid, The RE skid was $75 with the coupon, so i can't complaint about that. Easy install, i had to grind a tiny bit of metal out of the 3 mounting points that go in front, other than that, it's installed, i didn't have to do anything with the Rockhard one in the canister to get it installed, surprised how the factory thought protecting the canister with a skid of the thickness of a Pepsi was good, let alone not having anything to cover the oil pan and trans

Now i need to find out how much torque should i put to the 3 lower oil pan bolts, and the 2 lower bell housing bolts where the RE skid is mounted, not that i'm happy about the mounting points, but what that heck, at least oil changes are not going to be complicated, and for $75 the plate seems sturdy enough for now.

Ordered my hardrock skids at the Pomona offoroad show this past weekend, Hardrock was one of the vendors on site, so no tax, and free shipping
I'l be putting the RE skid on sale.

I have one. Went on really easy. Seems of good quality and pretty thick material. Should provide adequate protection for my needs

 

Same deal . didnt line up correctly , The rear tab had to be notched on drivers side

Im glad its there to protect the pan after seeing how some have taken a unexpected hit that caused a
much bigger problem id say
