Default Old Man Emu Suspension Thread 2.5" - What's your setup?

I've seen so many variations on this lift (and others) about what people are running on their rigs and how they're set up and I thought it'd be fun to see how everyone has tweaked their's to fit their needs and wants.

Add the part numbers for your springs and shocks.

Attachment 600751

Model: '14 JKU Rubi
Tires / Wheels: 35" Nittos on Stock Rubi wheels with spacers

Suspension details:
Springs: OME HD front and rear: 618s & 619s
Shocks: Standard Length OMEs: N196 & N198
Bumpstops: TF Uppers (Front), TF Lowers (Rear)
Trackbar Fixes: OME Lowering Bracket (Rear), Nothing in front
Control Arms: TF Front LCAs
Misc: Crown Extended Brake Lines

Any feedback/concerns?
My front end feels like it slams into my bump stops pretty hard over rough surfaces and overall the ride seems fairly rough off-road. Great on road though. I think that my front bumpstops are a little too long and I also need to put some weight on the HD springs, I still have stock bumpers front and rear. I have thought of adding something like the speed bumps if putting in a smaller bump stop doesn't help. I will be upgrading to an Adjustable Front & Rear Trackbar fairly soon.

Maybe this is a stupid idea for a thread, in that case just ignore it.

Anyone else?

Model: '14 JK sport
Tires / Wheels: 35X12.5-15 KM2 with 8 in wide rims

Suspension details:
Springs: OME HD front and rear
Shocks: Ranching 9-way adjustable
Bumpstops: Factory
Trackbar Fixes: OME Lowering Bracket (Rear), Nothing in front
Control Arms: Factory
Misc: Crown braided Extended Brake Lines (not yet installed-waiting for warmer weather)
1.25 body lift

Any feedback/concerns?
At first I thought I made a mistake getting the HD springs. The adjustable shocks made it a much nicer ride while still being able to tighten it up if I need to.

Model: '09 unlimited X
Tires / Wheels: 16" Procomp with BFG KO 305/75/16
Suspension details: Springs: OME HD front and rear
Shocks: Standard kit OME shocks
Bumpstops: Factory
Trackbar Fixes: Teraflex HD Trackbar
Control Arms: AEV relocation brackets
Misc: JKS quick disconnect sway bar links, OME steering stabalizer, MOOG drag link going on this weekend
I have enjoyed the lift, I think it rides good on and off road, I do have heavy front and rear bumpers and don't regret the HD springs. I would do it again, might consider their 4" next time around.

It sounds like I should take my front bump stops out if you guys aren't having any issues.

Default OME Suspension

Model: '10 JKU Sport
Tires / Wheels: Factory Rubicon BFG's

Suspension details:
Springs: OME HD front and rear (2619/2618)
Shocks: Bilstein 5100
Bumpstops: AEV front and rear
Trackbar Fixes: Teraflex HD in front, none in rear
Control Arms: stock
Misc: Crown Extended Brake Lines, JKS quick disconnects

Any feedback/concerns?
None. I like a stiffer ride, so I have no regrets with the HD springs. I have ARB front and rear bumpers, and a Warn XD8000i on the front, so I probably needed the HD springs anyway.

Those of you not running bumstops, any clearance issues? I've considered taking mine out since I'm only running a 32" tire right now.

With 32" tires you should be fine. I'm considering taking mine out and I have 35s. I have an email from ARB that says they "don't typically use bump extensions on the 2" springs in the front."

You have to make sure the shocks dont overcompress, the bumpstops are there to limit uptravel to prevent tire hitting fenders etc as well as keeping the shocks from over compressing.......

Model: '15 JKU Rubi Hard Rock
Tires / Wheels: OEM 255/75/17 BFG KOs on factory Rubi Hard Rock wheels

Suspension details: AEV 2.5 inch Dualsport kit with front control arm brackets
Springs: AEV 2.5 inch 4 door springs
Shocks: AEV 2.5 inch lift Bilstien 5100s
Bumpstops: AEV bumpstops supplied with 2.5 inch kit
Trackbar Fixes: AEV Bracket and track bar supplied with 2.5 inch kit (Rear), Nothing in front
Control Arms: AEV front control arm brackets with factory fronts, factory rears

I havent had the lift off road yet but so far I love this kit. Out of the 4 Jeeps and many many suspension changes and do overs etc, this set up is by far the best. Handles corners really well and much more controlled over bumps etc, brake dive is gone. People that ride in it are suprised how well it rides and handles for a lifted Jeep. My stock 18 front and 60 springs were sagged from my winch and recovery gear a bit. I gained about 3.5 inches in the front and 2.75 inches in the rear. The lift maintained a bit of rake which I prefer so when I'm loaded heavy it will sit pretty much level.

I just realized this is for OME set ups, sorry......I hope you OME guys don't hate me.

Considering that it came straight from ARB, I'd guess we're okay.

Since they can't possibly know which coil/shock/bumpstop combination every single person chose to go with, that is most likely an incorrect statement.

I sent arbusa a pic of my coils fully stacked (tire stuffed with no bumpstop) and asked about the possibility of damaging the coils. It was forwarded to corporate, and I received a reply from their head engineer in Australia. He indicated that stacking the coils will not harm them (went into a bunch of metallugical numbers and specs), but advised that I do run enough bumpstop to prevent the coils from stacking and to prevent the shocks from over-compressing. How much bumpstop to run will vary by application.
