Default Newbie thoughts on lifts

Kinda wondering when you graduate to not being a newbie? Anyway I thought I would give a opinion on things I have done. Went with AEV 2.5, I did change out Bils to Rancho 9000. TF monster tb, Regeared to 4.56, TL headlights, Magnaflow exhaust, Toyo 35x12.50x17ATll. AEV front bumper. PS Rock Brawler rear. Bunch of cosmetic stuff. What I did yesterday is the crux of this story. I added a steering stabilizer. Read where some people say don't waste your money, but with my use, it made s incredible difference. Stock one was not wore out as I only have 10,000 miles. What I am saying is beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For my individual use AVE 2.5 lift which some don't like, 4.56 gears, some say 4.88, have worked out great. For the beginner....I'm 60....research yourselves make a decision and enjoy.

I think that's exactly it. You graduate from newbie to some more advanced level when you start making build decisions based on needs identified in your own wheeling experiences. Better than the advice from some internet forum yahoo, you know what works for you and what doesn't because you've been there, tried that.

I'm confused... So what you're saying is your steering stabilizer that was good you replaced and now cosmetically you're happy with your gears and lift?

Sorry for the confusion, what I meant to say, after the lift, 35 tires, adding the track bar and the steering stabilizer, 4.56 gears, swaybar links, dialing in my shocks, greatly improved the handling/performance of my jeep in my opinion. I have read many times you don't need that stuff. Using the cosmetic word was about other thing I have done to vehicle that improved nothing other than my taste. I wager their are many people here that use their Jeep as a DD and use it on backroads and some trail rather than take it rock crawling where a whole new world is introduced.

Right there with your Robin.. There is a division among Jeepers.. I just happen to be in the middle.. I want good things for the jeep.. but have to compromise and make my own alterations, some good some bad.. but at least I've tried and submitted the idea. True our jeep is a DD.. But let's not forget the jeep is very capable off roader without having to add "options". I've acquired this attitude from the explorers over at Expedition Portal..

If you haven't read this.. Might be a good time to do so..
