fixin to buy a sPOD but
Can I get the opinions on why its worth $85 to have dash lit switches when functionally I will be fine with non-lit switches even in the dark (I can feel & count it its truly necessary). I can only rationalize it to aesthetics...that that fancy ejector seat switch needs to be lit. I would appreciate any insight if I am overlooking a need that I should account for.
Also, what is the reasoning of putting a CB on a switch in the sPOD (other than the ease of wiring)? I am just thinking of growth when you factor in 3 sets of lights & frt/rr lockers, to use the last switch on CB leaves no room for growth.

The switches being lit is purely a convenience item. Makes it easier to find what you're looking for the first time you turn a switch on. I have my cb wired to my sPOD because it was easy and I don't need the switches. I still have an empty switch with, one set of lights, front and rear lockers and the compressor. If you need it then find another way to run power to your cb. Really isn't a big deal to switch it around.
I know the spod is pricey but with all the OT lately, the business travel, daughters gymnastic meets and t-ball games, time is the most valuable thing I have. I have 3 sets of lights sitting on bench for months that I haven't installed cause the wiring would take "a while" (in cab part). The would allow for get it done faster.
I have bought far more for this Jeep vs build myself this go round because of time

It's aesthetics. It's why many of us go out and buy the OTRATTW switch toggles custom-engraved with our setup. Nice, finishing touch. As for why the CB on one (or refrigerator or a number of other things): Yeah, I've never figured that out myself. My CB turns off when I turn off the Jeep--it doesn't need a switch for that.

The bottom of my switches and oil pressure gauge are lit by dash lights (dimmable). The tops are lit when the switch is activated. The pushbutton switch disables the function of all six switches. If I'm driving down the highway and someone reaches up and says, "What's this front locker switch do?" while pressing it, nothing happens. I had to rewire the sPOD controller to make all of that happen. And, if you were to opt for an oil pressure gauge, well, wouldn't you want it lit at night? :-)

I agree, as far as the silk-screened color Contura II toggles go. Very irritating. But the new Contura XIV toggles (in my pic above) are much dimmer. They don't bother me. Engraved Contura Vs should be okay also, if one prefers their design.
