Default Anyone in Austin have a McGard wheel lock key?

I picked up a new-to-me 2013 Wrangler and it has the McGard lug nut locks. The previous owner lost the key. I figured before I start hacking away at them, I'd toss up a hail Mary to see if anyone in Austin, TX has the correct key and would be willing to loan it out. There's a 12-pack of your favorite beer in it for you. Please PM me if you can help.

Thanks!

You can buy replacement keys cheap. I personally wouldn't "hack away".

I lost mine, took it to the dealer and they had the four on the ground off in under a half hour. Once you know how worthless those McGard locks are you won't have an issue with them getting damaged to get them off. And BTW if you don't have the code for that lock, your odds of someone sending you the key that fits yours is pretty slim.

Unfortunately, you can only buy replacements if you have the serial number that matches the specific locks. The previous owner misplaced that too...

Thanks, I'll try my local Jeep dealer to see if they have a key that fits lying around. Believe me, the locks are going in the trash as soon as they come off.

Didn't have a key or anything for my caddy. Went to an after market wheel shop. They throw a key at me for $15. So I know you can get a replacement. Lot of auto part stores also sell "emergency" locking lug nut removers

I tried a couple of shops, no luck. The emergency remover kits don't work because of the rotating sleeve on the McGards. If you know of one that will work, please let me know, I'd really appreciate it.

Based on the other posts here on the forum, the only options are to grind a groove and use an air chisel, or weld a nut onto each lock.

I've heard, but don't know if it works, that if you over tighten the regular lugs you can spin the lock right off.

I'll give that a shot too, thanks. If that fails, I'm headed to Harbor Freight on my way home from work to get a cheap air chisel and a BFH

I have had those type before and went to the tire shop to have a flat fixed they told me they didn't need my key when I went to get it they have a kit that fits about 20 different kinds of those keys
head to the tire shop closest to you and ask before you chisel them off also you can find an old socket that almost fits over the lug and hammer it on might ruin the socket but works in a pinch I have done that before with my craftsman socket then got it replaced for free once I was finished gotta love the lifetime warranty
