Default Found: frame mounted rock sliders with built-in steps

For years, people have been looking for frame mounted rock sliders with built-in steps, myself included. Yet, only a handful of companies make sliders with steps, and most of those mount to the body. While browsing, I found that Spohn Performance [manufacturer of performance suspension parts for Camaro/Mustangs and others] has two different types of frame mounted rock sliders with built-in steps. One style is like a side-step and the other is similar to the Smittybilt SRC Side Armor. Spohn makes their parts in the USA and have a great reputation in the Camaro/Mustang communities. I am not affiliated with Spohn in any way. Just wanted to let people know of another product.

Did you actually look at the website? They aren't frame mounted.

They bolt to the body mount the same say that the SmittyBilt does. If you look at the body mount you will see a bracket coming off of the frame. The body mount is then bolted to that which has a large bolt going directly though the middle of the rubber bushing. So in effect they are bolted to the frame since it is a rigid mount. If they were bolted on with the large bolt going through the center of the rubber in the body mount then they would not be a rigid mount.

So with all of that being said they are frame mount but so are the SmittyBilt.

Maybe I should have clarified a little better. They don't mount to the tub like the OEM side steps or Rubicon rails and you don't drill through the body to mount them.

They look pretty good, similar to the ACE rails (which use the body mount) only angled up for possibly a little more clearance. Price seems a little high though..the ACE can be had for $100 or more dollars less.

Been loving our TNT Customs slider/steps. They work, they have the rash and gouges to prove it.

Vick at VKS Fab sells builders kits and you can have your sliders flat as a pancake if you want and they are frame welded.
