3.6 exhaust
Thinking about a simple axleback exhaust for my 2014, any opinions on one that will not cause a loss in power or give an annoying drone on the highway? Just looking for a bit of a sporty tone but dont wanna kill gas mileage or low end power.
I was pretty happy with the afe mach force xp on my 2012. Just ordered one for my 2014 Rubicon, and it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Video clip I found of the look/sound:

For the price of these bolt on kits, you can custom fab one to your specs in stainless at just about any muffler shop. That means you can personally select your muffler style/type, your tips, your bends, your exits, turn downs, etc... in all stainless or aluminized if you want to save a couple of $.
With the bolt on kits, I'm finding I like the sound of one, the tips on another and the way it exits the rear on a third exhaust kit. For the price, I want to be totally satisfied, custom build gets you that for about the same cost. Something to think about and perhaps investigate. I can't see you loosing HP/TQ with a better flowing muffler, it's likely the reverse, probably better throttle response more than anything else with less restriction. I can see a loss in power happening if you start enlarging the factory diameter of the the exhaust piping due to a loss in back pressure.
Personally I like the 80 series delta flows for the F body camaro and firebird, I think it sounds pretty good, low deep tone, not offensively loud and little drone to complain about due to the baffling inside. It's a single in dual out, that's my preference but there are many options with flowmaster, magnaflow, dynomax, banks, etc... for mufflers. Find the sound you like and build from there. I think its the best of all worlds.

Use #316 and not #304, for instance.

I have the Magnaflow Cat-Back # 15237.
Zero drone, nice low growl when starting or accelerating, not too loud, doesn't interfere with conversation/music when cruising at highway speeds, yet enjoyable sound when stepping on it for bypassing or going uphill.
No power loss, no change in mpg.
It will affect the mpg, if you press the pedal harder than usual, so you hear the growl...
I like doing this in tunnels... terrific sound.
DynoMax® Performance Exhaust Promotions
In regards to drone look to our drone free mufflers, the VT.
DynoMax® VT® Mufflers - DynoMax® Performance Exhaust
Look to an OVER 4.0 application and in a 2.5" in/out
If you take this route, just make sure they use a really stainless material. Some stainless steels DO rust.

Exactly. The correct pipe diameter for our Jeeps is 2.5".

No, I don't, but you can find some on YouTube.
What you hear, very much depends on your sound system, especially on the speakers.
Also, most of the exhaust recordings aren't very good, and don't give the true sound.
Also... when the Jeep drives away from the camera/mic, the tone is higher pitched than what you hear inside the Jeep.
On this one, I found the most accurate sound representation.
Starting at 2:30, the sound (on my speakers) is practically the same as my exhaust.
