Default Anyone ever trim the stock spare tire rubber bump stops

I have stock wheels with 315x75x16 tires. I'm going to run a spare tire on the stock spare tire carrier, however with this tire wheel combo the tire sits closer in and can not be fully seated on the carrier unless the rubber bump stops are trimmed or shorter one's are purchased.

I was wondering if anyone has trimmed down their stock rubber bump stops.

Works great. I'm running the Teraflex carrier and it recommends to trim them to fit.

Do you not have a bumper?
a 285 70 17 wouldn't fit stock carrier

Before getting my LOD rear bumper I had my Duratrac 315/70 17 fit perfectly on the stock tailgate with bumper. In fact, the round cut out of the bumper was perfect and supported the weight. I ended up buying the rugged ridge bump stop replacements and cutoff the end which worked better than stock. Click image for larger version

So stock 16" steel wheels with 315s fit stock bumper and tailgate? Wow that's awsome, I didn't know that. Why won't 17s fit anything? Anything bigger than stock hits the bumper

On an older setup, I used the Daystar tailgate bumpstops. Cut to fit.

Spare tire fits perfectly on stock carrier and rest on top of bumper cut. Not even a 1/8" to spare Cut off about 3/4" of rubber bump stop.

Should support tire weight well. Rock solid too
