Default Engine Transmisson skid plate

Any one make there own. Most cost between $250-$350. Got to be able to do it at home for a fraction of that price. I've been looking for some Home made write ups or pointers.

If anyone has links or knowledge about doing it yourself, it would be appreciated.

So stuff like this doesn't happen again.

Material is the key... Good skids are made from the right metals.

I was thinking 1/4" steel, that's why I'm asking. To much, not enough, where have people used front mounting points.

I'm hopping someone's done this at home before so that has already trouble shot the speed bumps.

I haven't yet, but when i do im using 1/4 plate. Possibly 3/16 with some uhmw on the bottom. I have it all planned/ measured just havent done it. Mine will go together somewhat like the artec if im recalling how theres was made. I will be flanging off by the motor and probably a brace off the tranny crossmember also.

I had the EVO stuff and was looking at it the other day. Would probably take me a couple hours to make copies of the design and maybe $50 worth of steel. However, like Maertz, I have a flat belly now, so my skid won't need any bends (except have to weld up a little ramp for one little part of the t-case).
