Any thoughts between the two axle housings and why one would be picked over another? Two I have in mind are the RockJock 60 and the G2 core 44 complete assembly.

I am throwing 5.13's in my dana 30 and 44 rear. I plan on trussing and adding gussets for the meantime but just planning for the worst. I like the idea of having a 44 in the front and back. Idk how i would feel about a 60 in the front and 44 in the back lol. Anyways....i just wanna buy once and be done. The G2's look nice and pretty.....but its still a 44....if Im going to drop that much money I wanna do it right.

 

I feel if you have the need for a new axle dont go d44...but depends on your wheeling style/frequency and where you wheel. Some people d44s are plenty and some will eat them for breakfast...if i was severely contemplating a new axle id not waste money on your current axle.

 

My cousin actually just told me he has front and rear D60 assemblys from a 07' Ford... i might go that route if he gives me a good deal on them. I was reading up on a swap thread but I couldnt find if they were a direct swap or not. Can anyone verify?

 

As far as bolt in id say no. As far as will it work. Yes it should be fine if im not mistaken.

Ah, there it is. Thank you ^ do you know if they make a bolt pattern adapter? I just bought brand new wheels. Id hate to get rid of them already....

 

You need to do ALOT more research before you make any decisions. It will only benefit you in the end and not end up in the "I wish I didn't do that" category as many of us have been in.

 

Since at least 1999, F250/350 have had Sterling 10.25/10.5 rears, not a D60.

Referring back to your first post, are you talking front or rear axle? If you are talking rear, then you are likely comparing a D44 to a semi-float 60, which really isn't much of an upgrade. Larger housing and R&P, but the R&P on the JK in the rear is pretty solid. The real upgrade is a full-float rear and that is a lot more $$$. Don't bother upgrading the rear unless it is to full float.

As for the front, you are again talking way different axles. A front D60 is going to start at around $7500 for a new one.

As the post above says - you need to do A LOT more research before you do anything. Building a set of late model Ford axles is far from a weekend project. Making them work on a JK is another level above that.

 

I think mines a 98 and is a d60. So your most likely correct. First id gauge whether you need a d60 truly or not.

 

I am in the middle of a 1 ton swap on my JKU. My axles are out of an 08 Ford. Definitely not a bolt in, it's a ton of work, but wayyyy cheaper than crate axles
