I would stray away from CAI's with metal pipes. Also, while an aftermarket CAI may be less restrictive its all about supply and demand. I don't think a stock engine demands any more airflow than the stock setup provides.

I guess my thought is these are meant to meet emissions more than anything so some light mods might help out?

I have 13 JKU and I put a mopar unit on, sounds really nice, don't know about any horsepower increase, but my mileage has gone up between 1-2 mpg

Ok...here is my thinking.

With the scrutiny that Jeep is under to meet emissions standards...don't you think that if they could produce a significant increase in mpg by simply adding a CAI which costs them almost nothing to make then wouldn't they just make it standard rather than making other significant costly changes

CAI and Catback exhausts are 99% show and 1% go

Not if that screws up the emissions
Emissions is a group by the numbers game if the reduce here they can up over there

I'll say that I want a cold air intake but just for looks and sound only.

You should watch this video:

I actually have the Mopar CAI since you're asking about that specific one. The fit and finish are good, it adds no actual power, mileage, etc.. Looks good and I like the sound.
