Raptor liner--any advice?
I'm about to pull off my or-Fab tire carrier and shoot it with raptor liner..any advice?
I have some red 3m scuff pads to scrub the carrier down as well as the acid8 primer.
What should i do about the rust spots? Take a wire brush to it then spray with the primer? I have naval jelly, should I use that too?
Should I prime the whole carrier?
What is the shelf life of the raptor liner? Should I pull off my number too?
I'll post pics when done--steve

I would say scuff everything that you intend to spray. Don't worry about how deep the marks are; once you spray it you will never see the scuff marks. As far as the rust spots , I just scuff them first, then spray with ospho, allow that to dry for 24 hours scuff any residual off then spray with the acid etch primer then spray raptor liner.
Red scotch brite pads are not nearly aggressive enough you need 180 at a minimum I used 120 on my tub

First clean it with a good solvent and dry it down, I'd even advise going over it lightly with a propane or map torch to make sure it is completely moisture free... then wire brush and sand off the rust spots; scuff everything with sand paper; spray it with a rust converter (at least the bare metal spots); let it dry.
Then light sanding; wipe clean again; make sure its thoroughly dry and you haven't touched anywhere with bare hands and what not... then etch prime. Let it dry for at least an hour, then spray the raptor liner in a thin coat... once covered, go back over it again just a little bit thicker (but not too thick!). Wait an hour, spray second coat (if applicable... if you were doing bare metal I'd advise second if even just to ensure complete coverage; since you're going over existing powder coat, you may find that one covers just fine).
Make sure humidity is less than 60%, in fact, I'd opt for a 50% or less just to be safe - it is very sensitive to humidity. I've made this mistake and it wasn't fun... went through prep meticulously, thought I did everything right, and then about a week later it bubbled in spots and then most of it peeled off like it was plastidip.
Good luck!
