Default 5" Backspacing Wheels on Unlifted JKU

Hi, So I'm trying to figure out if I'll have rubbing on my rear swaybar running 275/70r18 Nitto Trail Grappler tires on aftermarket XD Enduro wheels 18x9 with 5" Backspacing. The tire comes out to about 33.62x11.10x18 according to Nitto's inflated dimensions. I knew the pinch seam would be tight so removed it. Also I have smittybilt xrc fender flares and a stubby front bumper, but currently it has no lift. I've read other threads on this but none with quite the same specs. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Regards,
Daniel

I run 315/70/17 (34.6" X 12.5") on factory rims with 1.25" spacers. This works out to a 5" backspace and I have no issues of any kind with tires rubbing on any rear suspension component throughout the full range of up or down movement.

(6.26" factory BS - 1.25"spacer = 5" BS)

Thanks for your reply! So are you running any sort of lift kit?

Yes I run a RK 2.5" (3" real world) on my JKU and a TF 2.5" PBB on my wife's JK. I have found the lifts to have no effect on wheel clearances with regard to suspension components.

Before I added the 1.25" spacers to both Jeeps I did have slight issues with my older and smaller 285/70/17 ~33"X12" tires rubbing on the lower front (at full wheel lock turns) and rear control arms (during minor suspension flex).

You are not installing an overly tall or wide tire, the 5" backspace will serve you well. Heck AEV rims have even less, 5.2" and a whole lot of folks running 35"-37" tires think the world of them. If by chance you do have rubbing on the front lower control arms at full wheel lock you can either make a slight adjustment to the turn stops (very easy to do) or back off the mount of turn you are imputing.

I run 305/70/16 (32.25") General AT2's with 5" backspacing and haven't had any problems with rubbing anywhere. Haven't had it off road either so I can't comment on that.
