Default D60 and D44 Axle swap

I'm curious to find out what axle swaps, bolt in fully assembled, have been done without having to spend $10K. Anything from the junkyard that works with a JK?

As I always saw, any thing will work with modifications. If you can do all of your own work, you caught easily do junkyard tons (Dana 60 and 14 bolt) for under 10K.

There are no bolt in JY axles. There are complete swap kits for JY axles, but that requires a good amount of work and a good amount of welding.

Otherwise, the best bet is $11k for the new Dana axles.

I don't think there are any junkyard 44 swaps that would be even remotely worth the effort. For a few hundred bucks more, you can buy a 60

Are there other Jeep/Chrysler vehicles that will bolt into a JK? From a Ram truck or Durango or something?

No, but if you ask one more time there may be...

I guess theoretically one may "bolt on" but its not going to be pretty.

I mean all axles bolt on. Using factory mounts of other axles and bolting it on will make it not line up and give you some weird arm angles. But hey what do i or any of these guys know... Hopefully someone will chime in whos done this extremely easy bolt on axle dream you speak of.

The only axles that would be an upgrade would come from the trucks or commercial vans. The brackets absolutely won't work, so you'll have to cut and replace. Driveshaft won't connect. You'll need new wheels.

If it was possible to do, tons of people would do it. Just to support that fact, there is a reason Dana spent two years taking a one ton Dodge axle and making bolt into a JK. Hence, the Ultimate Dana 60s.

I don't think its possible. The best thing your going to find is an axle that only requires new mounting brackets, but even then its going to require some work. If it were possible, I think you would find a lot more people doing JY swaps instead of buying crate axles. But due to a lack of time, shop/garage space, knowledge, and fab skills, myself and 90% of JK owners will reluctantly for over the $$ for some bolt in axles wishing we had learned to weld.

But if you do find some, let me know because I will gladly go that route when the time comes.
