Default 2.5" lift with 33's? What's the best bang for buck?

I just bought a 15 JKU and it is my second unlimited, went with the 6 speed tranny too pretty excited. The first go around and without researching, I bought the cheaper rough country 4" and threw some 35's on her. She looked great until I drove her around for about a month, lost all power and gas mileage was about 11mpg. This time I went with a 2" spacer in the front and 285/75/17 and its much more manageable. I would like to put a 2.5" full suspension lift on her but not sure if it will lift it too much and make it look goofy with the 33's. What are some good options for an affordable lift? Thanks for reading!

Why not just do a leveling kit and the 33s. Save money/time/steering geometry/caster etc...?? Why the 2.5" of lift if you are staying with 33s? :curious:

You can run 33's stock. Leveling kit would give it a small boost as mentioned AND can be have for cheap.

Go down to JK Show & Tell. You will find some huge picture threads with just about any lift/tire combo you could want. If you don't find what you want with the sites search engine, use this string in google, followed by whatever it is you want to find.

site:www.jk-forum.com

If you don't want to lose power with bigger tires, look at regearing. Or don't get bigger tires.

An affordable 2.5" lift? A BB is probably the best option. If you want coils, research so you have an idea of the actual height you are likely to end up with. Could be 2", could be 3. Could even be 4. The taller you go, the more issues you introduce, the more components you are likely to want, and the more money it is going to cost. So I guess start by defining what 'affordable' means to you...

Here's 2.5" coil lift with 33" rubber. If tread is aggressive the looks pass: street tires will appear wanting. Get a programmer to adjust speedo.

I installed a 1.5" RK lift on my 09 JKU. I plan for 33" max. and don't do too much off roading.

Sounds like you are wanting my exact setup. teraflex 2/1" leveling kit and then add Monroe reflex monotubes for more control on and off road. Plus a lifetime warranty on the shocks. It rides great, looks great and handles great. Goto the expedition modded jeeps post in show and tell and you can see mine there. Best part is that it was very affordable to get a great stance with 33s. and it works great off road.

Just take it back to stock if you want 33s maybe a leveling kit but even that isn't necessary.
