Default Help! between trail grapplers sizes!

Help!

Just got some new rims ( atx ravine17x9 with 4.5 back spacing)

And can't decide between these tire sizes of the nitto trail grapplers for my set up.

Sizes that I'm looking at are:

285/75 17, 295/70 17, 315/70 17

I'm wanting to go with what's best for my current set up. My set up is as follows.

2013 2 dr sport with 373 gears. Aftermarket bumpers, aftermarket shorty fenders all around with trimmed inner fenders, terra flex level kit, terra flex quick discos, currently rolling on rubicon rim/tire take offs.

I do off road. Try to go once a month or two.

What do you guys think!?

I just trimmed the fenders on mine and I am running an EVO Leveling kit. I am getting 315.70.17 trail grapplers. I also have 3:73 gears.

I have 295/70's with 4.10's/auto. I sometimes wish for more power and wonder what the 315's would do to that. For me personally I don't think i would like it. I tried Duratracs in 315 and for the brief time they were on I wasn't too pleased. Liked the look...just felt sluggish.

the 315's

If you want 35's, get 35's. Don't play the game of starting with 33's, selling for a loss in a few months and getting 34's, selling at a loss ...

100% agree with this. Also, the 315s are more like a 34" anyway. I've owned my Jeep for two years and I am on my 3rd set of new tires. That is not the way to do it...

Mine is a 2013 2-door as well, with a 6 speed. It had 3.73 gears and 315 Duratracs. Yes, it needed a regear. If I had an auto, I wouldn't have cared. The manual was not so fun on the highway as it could never hold 6th gear and I was always down shifting. Around town, hardly noticed.

Wheeling is a different story. I think my Jeep was 5 months old when I put a Rubicon transfer case in. Best $500 I ever spent. However, I would have done it even with the stock tires. The Sport t-case just isn't designed for crawling.

Here is a pic of my rig. i wanted everyone to see what kinda flares i have. These are custom made, and i think, have prob the most clearance of any fenders i have seen, they are basically like having no fenders, as they are only 3.5 wide.

I feel like there is a ton of room for tires with my terraflex leveling kit and these flares.....

The tires i'm now looking at are all nitto. I'm currently down to three new ones. 285/75/17, 35/12.5/17, 315/70/17

from nittos website the tire measure out to these exact dimensions.

285/75/17- 34.09 tall, 11.57 wide

35/12.5/17- 34.84 tall, 13.19 wide

315/70/17- 34.61 tall, 13.27 wide

as i said, these are on 17x9 wheels with 4.5 back spacing.

So we figure that each tire will loose roughly what? A inch in height unload right? maybe 1.5?

So with this new info, and a pic, what do you guys think?

Pic are with the stock rubicon rims/tires, not my new rims, that are in boxes waiting for the tires.

those 32's measure out to more like 31's on the jeep.

I am going to completely change my opinion, and say that if you want 35's, get 35's. Don't mess around with 34's or 33's.

But with those flares, slap on some wheel spacers and 37's and be done with it.

Is your front fender bent up in the middle?

Yup, it's a throw back to the old school arched fenders.
