Default Teraflex 1.5" Leveling Kit Install - Advice Needed

I started my Teraflex 1.5" leveling kit install today, got the rear spacers installed. Two issues came up. First, the rear passenger side sway bar link upper bolt has an issue. The nut near the link moved out on the threads away from the sway bar link, leaving thread near the sway bar link instead of beyond the nut on the other side. Will this cause problems? I loosened it up and backed the nut out, but when I try to tighten the nut, it grabs the bolt and pulls the nut instead. I've got it good and tight, just worried that its not how it started out. Hopefully I attached the photo correctly to show what I am trying to say.

Second, the rear trac bar is not lining back up properly. I installed the grade 8 kit a couple weeks ago and had no problems with it. Now it looks like I need to use a ratchet strap to get the holes to line up.

Doing this all on the floor of my garage, so any advice is welcome.

Will be moving to the front tomorrow, after making sure I've got the rear properly installed.

I don't think that the inside nut should have moved. I just installed this kit last weekend I used a set of spring compressors so that I wouldn't have to drop the axels as much so I didn't remove either track bar. What you are describing with the track bar isn't all that surprising, but did you set the jeep back down on the wheels and try it? If not try that and see if it lines up better.

Why did you remove the track bar to install this lift? You had the grade 8 done already. I did not even take my wheels off to install the teraflex leveling kit.

I tried pulling the springs following only the written instructions at first. Too tough to get the springs out. Then I followed the instructions in the Tereflex video which included removing the trac bar, and the axle dropped a whole lot more. Planning to follow the same plan on the front end today. The less I have to remove, the better.

I did try to reinstall the trac bar on the ground, which is where it sits now. Still about 1/4" off. Thinking maybe I should have unbolted it on the ground in the first place. Will lift it up again today and see if I can snug it up with a ratchet strap.

I didn't think that sway bar link inside nut would move either, but clearly it did. Only on the passenger side.

Guess I'll try to lube the threads under the outside nut, work the inside nut back toward the head, and give it another try today.

Any comments on if its important to gett that sway bar link nut back where it started? I'd hate to kill a few hours trying to remedy a situation that doesn't need remedy.

Wow, so you jacked the jeep up, supported with jack stands, and just lowered the axle and the springs came out? You were able to remove and replace the front swaybar links like this? I'm impressed!

NOpe. never jacked the axles off the ground actually. Went around the jeep, unbuttoned the shocks, brake lines and swaybars on 4 corners on the axle. then took my floor jack, with an extension i.e 2x12s nailed together, and cranked one corner at a time. each spring came out, and I had enough to install the spacer on top and repeat on the 4 corners. I guess it would take me 2 hrs to install a lift like mine now....if that. After that, loosen all track bar and control arm bolts, rock back and forth and then retorque. DONE. Easier than going to the store and buying a 12 pak.

Front links were just an unbutton and rebutton affair. easy peasy.

I am impressed! And a little intimated to try this approach myself. Got the rear done, now just have the fronts to do. May try your approach, we'll see after watching the video one more time.

Happy to report I solved my own problems this morning. Aha moment over coffee was "I have Loctite." Put a little Loctite under the nut, backed the nut out onto it. Took the other nut off, cleaned the threads on nut and bolt and lubed them. Tightened up the track bar and got that bolt back in while the Loctite dried. Put the nut back on the sway bar and tighted it up. Loctite held firm. Dropped the Jeep and now having another cup of coffee before I attack the fronts.

Glad you fixed your problem. I just did the same kit this weekend. Front on Friday night, rear on Saturday morning. I also did it in my garage. I took the wheels off, though. I put it up on jack stands and used the spare tire jack to raise and lower the axle.

Had no problems, but it did take putting the Jeep back on the ground to get the front track bar bolts back in. In the rear, we used some leverage to pull the axle sideways a smidge to line up the hole for the track bar bolt to go through.

Love the lift!

No issues doing it this way. there is always support on the jeep. Very safe as long as you have your jack stable. Just watch your brake lines. You can over extend them. But if you look at everything, you will see what I mean. just disconnect the shocks, links, take the brake lines out of the holders. take your time and you will get r done
