Default Need Some Advice...Should I lift my JK?

I bought a used 2012 Sport about a year ago. It's stock except for the 3/4" coil spacers I installed shortly after buying it. It has 3.21 gears too. The stock 17" sport wheels and 255/75/17 tires just look too small for my taste. I recently scored a deal on a open box Teraflex 2.5" coil lift and exhaust spacer kit. It sounds like I'm on my way to run 35's and new wheels, but the added cost of another $2500-$3000 for wheels/tires is causing me to rethink everything. Not to mention the possible cost of regearing. My jeep is my only vehicle and DD and I don't have a long commute, only 2 miles to work within the city. Since I already have a 3/4" puck lift, which I know isn't much, I've been contemplating just upgrading my wheels/tires with some 33's instead of 35's and selling the lift kit to recoup some funds for wheels tires. I don't really offroad at all. I just want it for looks. Any advice?

up to you but a suggestion, slap on some 33s on 15s. will "look" bigger than it is. you could get 15" steel wheels and tires for less than a 17x33 tire in some cases.

You must be looking at some serious mall crawler wheels. I'm running 35's and paid $1400 for 5 tires and 5 wheels. 33s shouldn't be that bad.

Damn what combo are you running. I've been seeing around 1800-2k and I thought that was low. 35s on 17s tho.

I am looking at the Quadratec brand rubicon extreme wheels in gunmetal color. I really like the look of those. I was always a fan of the TJ moabs but dont care much for the JK moabs as they are too flat. Quadratec offers wheel & tire packages and its around $2500 for all 5 with 315/70/17 mounted and balanced.

Go with mastercraft mxt tires and just pick a wheel I got my 37" with tires and sensors for $2200 shipped to my front door. I'm also running a 3.5" Rock krawler mid arm flex lift and I cut my fenders.

The Quadratec Rubicon Extreme wheels are a great option at $150/piece. My suggestion is just buy the wheels and wait on the tires until you can afford them.
I run the Duratrac 315/70/17 on my stock wheels with spacers and I'm very happy with the look and performance.

How do you like your MXTs? I'm thinking they'll be my choice after my 33s are gone and I have regeared

I know that this isn't exactly what you want. But I recently redid my 2012 2dr. sport, I lowered it 1" (removed
3" spring spacer lift kit and replaced with 4dr. unlimited springs, they are heavier then 2dr. It still allows me to
run 35" Duratracs with cut stock fenders. I'm telling you this because I got the springs used for $100.00 dollars
and installed for around $350.00 dollars at my local 4wd. shop, they were brand new take offs with less then
500 miles that someone had removed to install higher lift kit. You could probably find the same deal at a shop
near you. Then you could sell your Lift kit and use the money towards tires. Also the ride would be closer to stock.
I love mine with new setup works great. Hope this helped, and good luck on you mod

Default Every one has a opinion

mine is leave it stock if you dont do a lot of offroading . i love my jeep low as to lifted . It will go where ever i intend on going with out loosing the handling of a lifted one . i get compliments all the time not that i look for any . mine is a dd and sees a bit of rugged roads but not daily. 33s are beefy and will also give you a nice ride depending on tire choice . I cant see spending the money to lift it only to gain short clearance difference . If your a serious offroader yes or if its a toy fine , but as a dd No

There hasnt been anyplace i wanted to go i cant get to with out a lift but i have lockers and 410s in a rubicon that help

however i had a 2011 sport with 3.21 gearing 33s and no lift and still would have been fine in my estimation with where i go
