Default Smittybilt tire carrier reviews?

Anybody running the Smittybilt tire carrier? I've been running a 35 on my stock carrier for about 8 months and starting to get nervous...looking for a temporary (cheap) solution until I can get a bumper with carrier.

Bad pic but I've had my SB oversized tire carrier on for over a year now. It has mixed reviews across the board but in my case I have had no issues at all. eventually I will replace it with something else but as for now it does the job. No tailgate rattles, buckling or warping. I think the key is to make sure the tire is secure and tight to the carrier.

I've had a 37 on my SB tire carrier for several months now with no problems.

Does the carrier allow for adjustment up/down to adjust for bigger tires? Right now my 35 is just barely touching the bumper when closed.

Yes it is adjustable for the tire location and the rear brake light.

I've had the SB for a year now with a 37 inch tire with no problems yet but it still scares me that it will brake soon or a later!

Ran the smittybilt oversized tire carrier with 35s for six months before trading last jeep in. Never had any problems with it.

SB XRC bumper and tire carrier here....so far so good 4 months old no issues very happy with the product.
33 in tire right now, and as others have said third brake light is adjustable,

Really like the "hammered" finish too.

I have one on right now with a 35. I just ordered the Teraflex tire carrier, just the carrier not the hinge, to replace the smittybilt. I will buy the hinge later when I have $400 to drop on it. In the mean time the carrier is only $223 and is adjustable.
