I recently purchase my second Engo. The first was a Engo 9000 w/synthetic which I sold with my 2012 JKU and the latest is a Engo 10,000 w/synthetic which is mount to the front of my 2015 JKU. Both have work flawlessly. I paid $425 for the 10000S shipped to my door. For the price, I am very happy with Engo.

I know a lot of guys who run the XRC winches and they seem to work well. I've had a warn xd9000i since the late 90's and would definitely go warn again if it died but they arent cheap. Synthetic is better in almost every way. Safer, wont birdcage, wont kink and lighter. As long as you don't run it across something that will abrade it it should last years.

Running XRC X20 10k. Paid $549 with shipping, comes with synthetic rope, and fairlead. I cut my hook off and added a prolink 55 on it. Feels much better using that vs a hook.

2 pulls thus far with success. 1 on a JKU and 1 on a dodge diesel with quads on a trailer stuck in some sand.

It really depends on what you are pulling yourself out of. I had an xrc 8 on my yj and moved it to my jkur. It has not had a problem, but i'm not pulling myself out of deep mud either. I usually get hung up in a rock and just need a little tug. I plan on buying a larger winch. I'm evaluating my options. Cost vs durability. Its hard to drop 2G's on a winch when the $300 one keeps pulling me out.

Yes, I wanted a Warn winch, like I had on my old truck years ago.

But was hurting for money and "settled" for the 10k synthetic Engo. It's done a FINE job.

I have the Qtec 9000i Synthetic. Had other name brand winches like Warn in the past with no problems. I've had this winch on for a year and used it several times with no issues. I highly recommend. I think I paid 399 shipped on the Qtec website.

Thats why they have snatch blocks. I usually use a snatch block everytime just to take it easy on my winch.

I have an engo 10k, going on 2 years. works great, I wouldn't spend more money personally.

I've heard of some issues with recon on other forums, from what i've read issues aren't that uncommon, engos not so much.
