Default Need advice, Transmission

Sorry in advance but this will be rather lengthy. So I made the mistake of saying that my transmission has been difficult to shift on a routine oil change at the dealership. I have a 2012 Wrangler 6 speed with only 55,000 miles on it. They told me to bring it in and as long as it's not the clutch they could work on it under warranty. I knew it wasn't the clutch because it felt fine and wasn't slipping. It was difficult to shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th. I dropped it off and they took the transmission apart. They replace the synchronizers 1-4 and that made the transmission shift really good. The only problem was that I got a gear noise while in 5th gear. I noticed that almost right away and returned for them to fix that problem. The tech was unsure what the problem was and replaced the shifter assembly. This reduced the noise but it was still there. I have a shifter extender from rough country to account for my body lift. The dealership forgot to tighten this down and almost killed me. Not once but twice when I took it back to them. The shifter would become loose and you could spin the shift know in circles. Needless to say I was done with that dealership at that point. I then took the jeep to another Chrysler jeep dealership to have the fifth gear problem fixed. That turned into a nightmare as well. I finally got them to tear the transmission apart and they told me that my shifter gear is broken and also my clutch is looking worn as well. I got a aftermarket clutch put in with no cost to labor and they "fixed" the shifter fork. On the way home from that dealership I started to hear more gear noise on acceleration. This time in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. It shifts fine and the clutch is quiet. The noise is quite audible in those gears during acceleration. I took the jeep back down to them and then they got a Chrysler tech involved. After he drove it, they called me and told me that this is normal for a slightly modified vehicle and should be fine. My vehicle hasn't changed at all for over 20,000 miles and only has 35" tires on it with upgraded 4.56 gears in the axle. So my question is, am I screwed here? Is it normal to have gear whine? Is there anything I can do to get this fixed? Is there anything I can do to get my point acrossed to Chrysler? I have 17 months left on my warranty. Any advice would be much appreciated and thanks

I'm sorry to hear. I went through the same thing with my 2005 Pontiac GTO and the dealer did such a bad job that the transmission grinded constantly. I fought so much and even wrote to the VP of service for GM. GM extended the warranty of the transmission and eventually replaced it.

There are so few vehicles now with a manual transmission that techs simply don't know how to fix them. After my experience I would never let a dealer tech open my manual transmission. I would prefer to pay an expert.

Keep fighting, contact everyone you can.
