Default Opinions on Old Man Emu lifts

As stated above I am looking for opinions on Old Man Emu JK lifts. I am wanting to hear from those with actual experience from one of their lifts or anyone running their shocks. I would just like to hear you feedback and opinions.

I will probably eventually change my lift and this is on of the ones I am looking at. One of the reasons is that I had an Old Man Emu lift on a 2002 Liberty and it was great. The ride was great both on and off road and I had it on for 55,000 miles and it was still in great shape no signs of sagging or fatigue.

I put one on a 2007 JKU in 2008, it is still going today. Other bushing and joint gave before anything on the lift. Build quality and install was top notch. Ride is nice.

OME offers a bunch of different coils for the JK, and they like to sell very minimal lift kits (I got a box with only the coils and shocks). Do a little research on the specific coils you are getting so you have an idea of the actual height you could end up at, then have an idea of which extra components you might want to add. With the Heavy coils, I ended up adding front and rear trackbars, front control arms, brakeline brackets, bumpstops, a front driveshaft, and eventually raised trackbar brackets and a draglink flip.

I have run the no load and the HD coils along with their nitro sport shocks. I would recommend the no load unless you are really really heavy. The no load gave just over 2" of lift (steel bumper and winch) and rode nice. The HD coils gave about 3.25" and a noticeably harsher ride.

I will confirm what Dirtman said. Once upon a time he told me that and I got the HD coils. Swapped them out about 3 months later.

Default Emu (ARB) vs AEV

I also am wondering about the 2 1/2" Emu Suspension lift vs the AEV 2.5 Dualsport XT Suspension lift w/bilstein shocks. I have a 14 JKU Sport S. Also looking at adding the Geometry Correction Front Control arm brackets with the AEV lift. We currently have a 2" spacer lift w/shocks that we are going to rip out. The ride totally sucks. Want a nice ride.

We had a really bad experience with a lift on a Grand Cherokee so are a little wary about changing any of the angles with either lift. Would welcome any info on either kit.

I'm also highly considering the AEV 2.5" Dualsport XT. Maybe you should start a separate AEV lift thread so as to not hijack the OME discussion thread.

OME 2616 fronts with 2617 rear are considered the no load springs ? Did you run the 2616's with front bumper and winch ?

I'm running the OME 618 rear, 619 front coils and OME shocks. I'm very happy with the ride, have 3" of lift with an ARB front bumper and Expedition One rear bumper with tire carrier in back. When I'm loaded up with gear and a couple mountain bikes for a trip the rear will sag about an inch but it's tolerable. OME also makes a 620 rear coil which is for really heavy loads. Unless your Jeep is really light I'd recommend the 618/619 spring combo, this is what Northridge suggested to me and they were right.

I have OME coils and shocks...ride is great on and off road. I will be putting the same on a friends TJ this weekend. I don't know a person who was not happy with an OME lift.
