Anyone running the Pro Rock 44? I'm trying to decide if I want a whole new carrier or upgrade some things on my factory 44.

Lots of people are running them. There are probably a few hundred different threads on pr44's. And Tera44's. And building stock 44's. and ...

What are your actual questions?

I just installed mine. Best Advice I can give is to sell your stock 44 while it's still intact so you can recoup some of the PR44 investment. Don't forget that unless you already have 4.56 or numerically higher gearing, you'll need to regear the rear to match if you order it completed.

Wheel hard; replace it. Don't; why bother?

I did an Artech Truss with gussets on the outer C's and skid on the control arms. Has been good and should hold up fine, I run 37's when I wheel and I don't baby it. I do run 285/70/17's for daily driving due to fuel and cost of tires sense I do a good bit of driving though. Cant justify spending $1800 +/- a year on tires alone.

When you say "carrier", do you mean axle housing instead? I'm running a PR44 after I blew up my d30, and its been a great upgrade and value in my case--however, I don't see why you'd want to spend the cash on one if you already have a 44. Its stronger than a Rubi 44, but not 5k stronger. I'd say beef up your current 44, or save for a 60.

I have one and they are a very nice well made axle. For some only a sixty will do but I like mine. You can get decent money for your 44 to off set the cost as mentioned earlier.

Complete PR44 Unlimited + ARB compressor + LCA skids + Synergy raised trackbar; $4950 - $2000 sold stock D44 = $2950 for a hell of an upgrade. PR60 may be nice but WAY overkill for most compared to a PR44 that will do the job IMO and extra cost I couldn't justify.

If you have any pro rock 44 questions feel free to give us a call. We build more than anybody else and we stock pretty much everything you could want to go with it. Our normal turn around time is 3-5 business days.
