Default Looking to purchase a new Rubicon unLimited

Back in '08 there was a "very stand up" sales manager for a mid west Jeep dealer doing internet sales on this site. I forgot his name but know that the dealer he worked for lost their Jeep brand during the financial crunch so he's gone. I'm wondering if there are any other dealers on this site offering good pricing or if any of you might have a good lead. The little town I live in doesn't have a dealership close and the closest one (90 miles away) wont talk any deal unless I drive down. In the past (he's also a Ram dealer) after I've driven down he kinda figures he has a captive audience and is all about MSRP and items already floored.

Thanks in advance

Steve

i would find another place to buy from. I used true car and got the average prices paid for my area and use that as a starting point and talked em down from there. if they did not want to haggle i just left and went to another place that would.

Buddy of mine went to Rairdon Jeep in Kirkland WA a couple years back and worked a great deal. Relatively close to you.

If you find a great deal online, try to get your dealer to match it. If the online dealer isn't incredible far away, and you're buying new, you could just have them ship it to you. I wouldn't buy used without seeing it first though. Play hardball with them. They genuinely want your business but want you pay as much as possible.

Weirdly enough I ran into a guy from Idaho at my local dealer because they gave him an incredible deal on a ram truck. A guy I work with said they gave them $4500 off a JKU sport. So I would think you can do better with a rubicon.

Although I haven't bought a Jeep from him there is a mike there that has his own modded wrangler. I would ask for him. Real nice guy.

I suggest you go to jeep.com and build & price, then check inventory over a distance; 200+ miles gives you a 999 mile radius, for example. Once you find one and click on the VIN to see what the dealership wants for it vs. msrp, you know where you might be able to negotiate further. I have seen some that wanted $3k or 5k over list, and others show discounts. Note that some of them show the max discount, and you probably only qualify for part of it.

I've never dealt with Dave Smith. I shop online then go check out cars on lots that I'm interested in. He doesn't post his prices online in general, so I'm out.

I have family in Sandpoint. On one of our trips, we stopped in Spokane on the way over at Barton Jeep, and that's where I bought my first Jeep in 2010. Very good experience, bought it the day after Christmas, very fair deal. It was an '09 Wrangler X, used, with 1200 miles on it. Was a great Jeep.

There's another dealer in Spokane that does Jeeps (Dishman?) There's also a dealer in Post Falls but I don't know anything about them.

If you're ever here on the West side of the mountains, someone already mentioned Rairdons above. They have a big inventory, and that's where I bought my current Jeep. Good deal. An absolute MEH on the experience (typical greasy sales experience).

Join Tread Lightly to get the 1% below Invoice Price discount, and negotiate down from Invoice Price. Aim for 8%, accept 5% and pay NO dealer fees of ANY kind. Good Luck.

Search this site for "what did you pay 2013" and read through all of the 2013 owners experiences. MSRP is irrelevant, and not the number to negotiate from. TrueCar is as good a starting point as the Tread Lightly 1% discount; though Tread Lightly may be a better deal?
