Default My Smittybilt XRC latch fix

As most of you know that have the smittybilt XRC bumper with tire carrier the latch doesn't always stay latched like it should.
My fix was to add a 3" tab to the end of the handle with a spring loaded plunger pin and a welded 5\16th nut.

I drilled a hole on the end of the handle so the pin can rest in which prevents it from moving up while your on the road or on the trail.
https://youtu.be/rOfgwfeI6Vs It works really well for a cost of about 20.00(the plunger pin cost the most)
A cheaper way to go is to use a threaded 5\16th wing nut

I just tied a piece of 550 cord thru the hole where the clevis goes, so that it is snug when I loop it over the handle, keeps it from opening when the vehicle is moving and slides off easily.

But, that is an awesome fix, looks more professional than mine. Your picture links aren't working but the video does.

Im still not sure how that works. Have any better pics of it closing/in the closed position? Im just not picturing it correctly. I use a big stainless carabiner clip that I have on a piece of paracord to keep it from getting lost. I just clip it over the opening for the turnbuckle when the latch is closed. I hope thats not too confusing. Ill need to snap a few pics in the AM
