next-gen diesel. FACT.
Also going to introduce a hybrid. Glad I got my JK when I did. A diesel would obviously be nice. But not for the $50-60k they will probably fetch.

Just because they are going to put a diesel into the wrangler, doesn't mean it will be a better engine option. For instance the OUS diesel option, I'm not sure I would rather have that than the 3.6L. I don't remember the specs on that engine, but I remember thinking it seemed low on power
so 50 to 60k to buy the jeep then another 10k or so to delete all the choking emissions crap and retune or just buy a jk or tj and 4bt swap it and save a ton of money and have probably a much better setup.
He probably meant nothing other than it's odd that a late-breaking automotive "insider" news link would come from a mainstream news outlet (instead of Jalopnik, Autoblog, or a secret-squirrel leak)
I definitely won't do $50k on a new diesel if that's what they go for. Sign me up for a base-ish V6 that's got manufacturer rebates and dealer cash piled high on the hood, because we all know that's how it goes on the unwanted models after the first year.
Hybrids are great as long as they raise CAFE averages so us guys who aren't into hybrid tech can enjoy our old-school stuff.

Funny, I actually daily drive a 2014 Volt. American made, quiet, comfy, more torque than my 2012 JK from the start, no need to visit the gas station for months at a time, less of my money sent to the Middle East=less of our soldier's lives are in danger, uses locally produced energy...
And I can hug a tree! (whatever that means...)
