Bad gear install story
. I wanted to warn people about ORI Winchester va . They did a bad install on my jeep . They did the install two years ago. Recently I brought the jeep to them to re-inspect their work. After the initial install it had about 30k miles on the Yukon 488s, I went back to the shop last week because my front pinion had movement in it and I wanted them to look at it . They said they didn't see anything wrong. "It's just broken in good," as they put it. So I went to get a second opinion from another shop. I watched them pull the cover off. We saw that the backlash was way out of spec and the pinion was moving pretty badly. We ran a pattern and it was not good. We backed off the nut and saw there was no locktight on it they had to replace both pinion seals a few days after the install for leaking and they used the old nuts

. I was suspicious that the rear gears may not have been done correctly either So I had the shop look at them as well. We pulled the cover and the locker plug had a crack in it and a ding on the metal. We checked the backlash on the rear and it was on the outer limits of it being in spec . Luckily for me jeep, just came out with the part they broke. If not, I would have had to buy a whole new rear locker at $1,200. I am pretty Sure that's why the first shop never said anything to me about dropping it . It still worked but was damaged . So long story short I had to pay for a complete front and rear re-gear and fix my rear locker. I went back to ORI to show them what I found . They said they must of overlooked the broken locker part because it still worked when they checked everything. In my option they knew what they did and knew the replacement part at the time was $1,200. ORI said I should have let them look at it first. I told them I took it to them earlier and they told me it was fine to have moment in the pinion. I knew this wasn't right which is why I took it to the other shop for a second opinion. In the end the gave me $65 for the part in the locker and said there's nothing else they could do. So at the end of this process I ended up paying for a front and rear gear install twice
