Default Tire rub - rubbing me the wrong way...!

Okay - so I have a 2014 JKU (rubi with 4.10's) with RK 3.5" X-Factor lift, 17"x9" MT Classic III wheels with 4.5" backspacing. I just upgraded from 35's (well 34" +/- Duratrac'S 315/70/17) to 37's - Cooper STT Pro 37x12.50x17. Kept the same wheels as it sounded like 4.5" backspacing would be fine. However it seems that I am getting some serious tire rub on the RK LCA's before getting to full lock...

Not really looking to get new wheels right now - plus there are just about zero wheels that are 3.5" backspacing that are not beadlocks - I do not want beadlocks for my DD. What is everyone else running in terms of whels, backspacing, spacers? with their 37's?

Thanks in advance...

An option you didn't mention is to adjust your steering stops on your knuckle to reduce your steering angle. Doubt you'll even notice the reduction in steering unless you are someone that tries to do right u-turns often.

That being said, I rub my frame and I don't really care. Haha. Some of my friends with 37s and 3.5" of backspacing STILL rub. So ya you can do wheel spacers but it may not solve the issue completely.

Yep, add washers to the steering stops (and limit the turn radius), or buy wheel adapters. As you found, there are not all that many non-beadlocks to be found with an appropriate backspace.

I am running 4.5" bs rims and 1.5" spidertrax with my 37" stt pro's.

Can you post or send me a few pics with the wheel spacers (side shots, front shots)? Any other issues running other places with the spacers? Thanks!

37's do like to rub the frame, even with backspacing around 3.5". I've got low bs wheels plus spacers on a rk 3.5x and 37*13.5 coops. Put on spacers or start searching for full size axles.

Front tire is turned a bit, but gives an indication of how far out they stick with an effective 3.0" backspace.

There are some long threads on spacers to read through, the only real issues I have seen were install or maintenance related, not the adapters themselves. As far as the extra width goes, I haven't had any issues, but I guess that will depend on your local trails.

4.75 backpacking on my wheels resulted in tire rub on my frame at full lock. Centering the axle perfectly and adding 1.5 spacers fixed it. I tried the steering stop adjustment but I wanted full turning radius.

Rk's arms dont bend in like stock or others rather up.

I added 2 washers to each stop.
