Default Roof rack hoist for garage.

Any one use a hoist to remove and store their roof rack in their garage? I recently picked up a rack for my Jku and with my top down the noise is a bit irritating. I would like to pull in my garage and hook up the hoist and remove my rack drive out and keep rack up by roof in garage. I could probably put my brain juices to it, but thought someone may have rigged something up I can use as a guide. Thanks.

I use two ratchet straps and two pull straps connected to eye screws in the ceiling of my garage for my hard top. I'm sure a similar set up would work well for a roof rack as well.

I made a hoist for my hardtop with 2 bike hoists from harbor freight. Bicycle Lift They're good for 50#s each.

The Lange Hoist a Top lift works good and is a 1 person job to take top on and off. Easy to install. I ended up suspending additions supports in ceiling as I didn't want entire weight supported on 1 cable.

How much does your rack weigh? If its fairly light maybe a kayak hoist will work. If it's heavier I picked up a 1/4 ton chain fall at Harbor Freight for 20$. I use that and an I shaped bracket I made of square tubing with 2 straps from strapworks to lift my hard top on and off same idea should work for a rack.

Default Racor Pro Store lift

I installed the Racor lift a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. I store the freedom panels on their bag on top of the lift and use ratchet straps to secure the top to the underside of the lift. Now removing and installing the top is a one man job (or 14 year old job yes so easy my son can do it). Sorry for the crazy angle of the photos, if someone knows how to edit attachments to rotate the picture please let me know.

I like that but don't need somthing that complicated. My roof is a foot away from my rack.

Default Up up and away!

I use the Harken Hoister for my hard top. I guess it would work for a roof rack/cage. (by the way, that is NOT me in the video)
