Default To answer the stock coil swap questions...

Figured I'd type up a quick post on my spring swap to try and answer the questions. I acquired some JKU springs to swap on my 2012 JK.
Before all I measured clearance from each end of the bumper and from tire to fender. I'm currently running the SmittyBilt XRC flares.

The swap took me maybe an hour in our barracks parking lot. After reviewing all the measurements there was a total gain of about 1 1/4"

Now the part that I enjoy is these springs are ALOT stiffer when on/offroad. I've also noticed that I don't get any sag when my jeep is fully loaded. Hope this helps anyone who was curious.

P.S. I've been on these springs for about a month and they still feel the same, just never got around to doing the write-up.

Happy Jeepin' o|||||||o

Yes, when you install a coil with a higher spring rate the ride tends to suffer. Don't expect it to get any better. There is a reason jeep uses different coil rates instead of different lengths on the coils.

The stiffer springs is a benefit IMHO. I enjoy the ride more on and off road is what I was saying.

What number springs did you remove and what number springs did you install if you don't mind? That's the real helpful part. Just the last two numeric numbers from the spring tags is good enough. Sounds like around three numbers up.

Thought I put it in there! My bad. The ones removed were 14AC and the ones installed were 16AC. Can't remember the rears off the top of my head but I can check during lunch.

That's 5/8" per number in the front. Pretty good. Your JK must be pretty light.

Yeah she is for sure, that and my springs were definitely used and these came off of a fairly new JKU.

I've been through a dozen sets of front coils, the lift doesn't last and they do soften back up. I've got 5 years on this jeep before I broke down and bought actual 'lift' coils and quit changing stock coils.

I'm glad it's working for you, but save your money.

For sure. They were free to me so definitely no loss. Eventually I'll end up getting an actual lift but with springs and only 33s I figured why not spend the money elsewhere. Lol
