Default Been through 3 clutches in the past month...PLEASE help

Hey guys I need your help as I am having a very frustrating problem. Please offer any advise as I am running out of ideas. I had to replace my transmission about a month ago and had the shop install a new clutch while they were in there. I had multiple issues going on, several gears were bad and the TOB was making some noise.

Anyways, after a day of having the Jeep back the TOB started making noise again. Took it back to the shop and they replaced the clutch no questions. This seemed to fix the problem as there was no noise when I got it back. I drove to MOAB from NC for EJS and it started making noise again while I was out there. I took it back and they replace the clutch again; and once again it started making noise again after a couple hundred miles this time.

So I have been through 3 complete clutches in the past month. What's the deal? I know the OEM TOB is a common problem but not this fast as my factory one lasted 98k. I mentioned putting in an aftermarket TOB (I have read good things about National). They have used good clutches as the 1st was a LUK and I am not sure about the second two.

The shop manager is at a loss for words and this is a very well known and respected shop. Please any advise would be appreciated as this is becoming very redundant!!

My only thoughts are to replace with different TOB or replace the clutch with a Centerforce or Spec. Could this be something with the reman tranny that could be causing this issue?

Thanks for all the help guys!!

Do they know it is the TOB?
Are they actually pulling the entire clutch, or just the suspected TOB?
Have you seen the bad clutch disks?
Are they worn down to need replacing that fast?

All questions I would be raising during this. If the first replacement was LUK the rest should be. I believe them and centerforce make TOB's you could use. Or call the clutch manufacturer if they are actually replacing everything (clutch disk, pressure plate, fly wheel, TOB, pilot bearing) and explain it to them.

I'd find out what exactly the shop was replacing then in turn i would contact the manufacturer and explain to them.

Best of luck! Clutches are a pain.

Went through two clutches from advance auto in 6 months on. TJ. They were crap, Chinese weak metal. Advance gave me all my money back and supplied me with a LUK clutch. That worked great.

Thanks for the response. It is the typical TOB chatter that goes off when I depress the clutch. I'll post a video with the sound shortly. There has been nothing wrong with the actually clutch disk they just wanted to replace it all and start fresh. The shop manager said the LUK wasn't lining up properly so that's why they switched brands. Is centerforce's TOB any different than OEM? But yes every time they have replaced the entire clutch kit. The factory flywheel is still there as it was in good shape as was the factory clutch but with 100k it doesn't make sense to replace just the TOB since your already in there.

Yes they are. It had a reman tranny put it the first time along with a LUK clutch which had the TOB. The factory flywheel was just fine. Same thing why by the 2nd and 3rd clutch just a different brand.

Here is a clip of what the TOB is sounding like. This was after the 1st clutch however the sound has been the same each time.
