Front Springs Rotating - Even When Using RK Clips
I am running 3.5” RK springs on my ’13 4dr. I am also using the RK front spring retention clips, and have them installed in the recommended locations (driver’s side on the rear/inner corner, passenger side on the front/inner corner); however, both my front springs continue to rotate out of position. After wheeling the last two weekends, I noticed a popping sound when turning the wheel completely to one side or the other. Turns out, it’s my springs popping as they are rotated so far out of position that under full turn they’re binding up. I’m just curious if anyone else has experienced their springs rotating even while using these RK clips? I could see possibly having an issue if using a different manufacturers springs as there could be a difference in coil thickness and such, but wouldn't think I'd have a problem with RK springs combined with RK clips. Anyone have a suggestion? Would wrapping electrical tape around the clip several times in an effort to make it a bit thicker just be a fruitless effort? I'm thinking that tape would just wear down quickly.
I'd turn them back into position and put 1 good solid weld on the coil and retainer strap. Then whenever you need to remove the coil you just grind the weld off real quick and you're good to go. Would take an extra 5 minutes.
Thanks. As someone who can't weld that kinda quick fix doesn't typically come to mind, but I can't imagine it would cost more than a few bucks to ask someone to throw a quick tack weld on those. Good point.
