Default New K&N Snorkel Kit

anyone know anything about this? installation looks reasonably simple compared to some snorkel kits (instructions say "90 minutes")

Give your Wrangler JK Serious On and Off-Road Performance with a K&N Snorkel Air Intake System

Thats actually a sweet looking set up. Looks good and well thought out. Be curious to hear reviews on it as well.

Reminds me of the Rugged Ridge but without the ability to add a prefilter or turn the intake in heavy rain.

After you take the fender off and see how constricted the inlet hose is (flat), I'm not sure you want to reduce the volumetric flow ?

I'm not keen on any system that dips lower then the air box. There is a potential to suck water and mud in the lower Connections and I have seen that personally more then once. AEV style may not be the prettiest but it is the safest.

Can anyone explain how this works -

"A unique feature integrated into the snorkel is an automatic drain valve at the bottom of the snorkel that will release any dirt and water that may make its way into system."

How is random dirt that gets in the snorkel going to make it's way to the drain valve rather than just travel all the way to the filter itself? Also, wouldn't that be a concern as yet another potential leak at the lowest point in the system?

I like the way this looks, but the intake does really slim down as it hooks under the fender. I'd be curious to know what the cross sectional area is compared to the Rugged Ridge snorkel (which looks wider) and the stock tubes.

I get the appeal for a bottom-of-the-system drain because rain and splashed water will definitely get in the snorkel, but there is some concern having an opening in the air system that low. I figured I'd wait a while and see how people like it.

Not the least bit impressed. There is no provision for a pre-filter if you need one and the airflow, well, is there any? It's also overpriced compared to the competition.

I'm pretty happy with it so far. I definitely notice a small power increase. It's for sure the nicest looking snorkel. K&N doesn't really seem to speak much on its water use. I'm curious how, if at all it holds up if submerged.
