I am looking for a exhaust setup that does not have any parts below the frame. Several companies boast 'high clearance', but I can't tell if they sit below the frame. One of the companies (Borla) has a video that shows the muffler just above the frame, but $800!!! I was also looking at Magnaflow and Flowmaster. These are not the only exhausts I have looked at, but out of all the pictures these looked like the highest clearance. Any and all exhaust are welcome. As far as where it exits, before or after the axel, as long as it is doesn't hang low. As I do not have anything to go off of other than pictures and videos, I come to the forum looking for your real world experience. Pictures and measurements will help a lot.

Now to address sound. For me sound is secondary to clearance. I prefer to be on the quieter side, but I know that changing my exhaust will change the sound.

I'm running the Magnaflow Off Road Pro, which dumps before the axle. It is a nice setup, and sits high in the frame. It is fairly loud, and does drone some, but it does sound good. Very deep and not raspy at all. If this kit cake with a resonator to eliminate the drone, it would be perfect. But you can add one yourself later if you wanted to.

 

Do you have any pictures of your install? Does any portion of the muffler stick out below the frame?

 

I have the magmaflow and hate it!! It's obnoxiously loud .... but that may just b me. The worst mod I've ever done to my Jeep.

 

Check out Pypes Exhaust they make a high clearance system the cool thing is you can by the muffler and chop your stock exhaust and make the exact same kit for 50 buck it sounds awesome to.

I went cheap and have been pretty dang happy to be honest. I have a $32 thrush welded muffler, removed my factory, and paid a muffler shop $40 to mount that in the factory location. I have a Crawler Conceptz skinny series rear bumper, and that muffler is really tucked up there. You can barely see it, and clearance wise, I can't imagine hitting that on anything that my bumper wouldn't otherwise clear. I read a lot about people putting that muffler on....some liked it and some didn't. I personally didn't want anything loud, and this doesn't bother me at all. It's definitely not a ricer sound to me, and I really don't think it drones at highway speeds. I don't notice it at all. I got <$75 in it and happy as can be.

 

Hi Roan, the muffler in our Offroad-Pro series system sits just barely lower than the stock frame rails. We rarely ever see them damaged, even after hardcore climbing/trail sessions. You can get a good idea of how it sits in this customer video:

My dynomax 39522 will be here any minute. I should have it installed by Wednesday. Under 200 bucks.

 

I smashed my stock muffler, same problem as you. I also didn't want anything loud. I decided on the AEF Scorpian exhaust. It's an axle back which was fine for me. It's tucked wayyyy up versus stock, no worries of rocks hitting this one. It also has a very mellow sound with the factory resonator in place. It's not loud, just a little deeper and more defined. I love it. I can post up a pic tomorrow if you want.

 

I'll take some pictures when I get some time. It honestly sits about is high as you can get it without making contact with the frame. The tailpipe turndown does hang down a little, but a sawzall could easily fix that.
