Default The "steering wheel dance" only works once...

With 35's now on my 2007 JK I have a lot more automatic front braking going than I care to deal with. Even slow driving around a residential area road causes my front brakes to engage. Off ramp corners at 25-30 mph suck with my front brakes engaging constantly.

I did the steering wheel dance and it works but ONLY until I shut off the engine. Then, back to normal.

Would getting a Pro Cal and recalibratiing the wheel size/speedo help correct this?

What else?

Thanks all for helpful insight.

I don't know what all you've done to your jeep but it sounds like you need to adjust your drag link to center your steering wheel.

I was under the impression the steering wheel dance didn't work on the 2007.

The dealer added it to my 2008, sometime around the 2010 time frame.

Has anyone had it added to their 2007?

I've been having that problem also. What's the steering wheel dance?

If the steering wheel is centered you shouldn't see the traction/slip nannies coming out to play anymore. The re-program is to correct the shift points for the automatic transmission, it doesn't sound like this is your problem.

There were a couple of TSB updates to the computers of the early JKs to allow the 'dance' to turn off the nannies, whether or not yours was flashed is something I can't answer.

-The dance is the process of turning off the electronic stability and traction control (the nannies) and works until the engine is shut down and restarted, there are people out there that have hooked up a switch to do this, I don't know if or how it works but a search of the forum may work to find the threads from back then (search is pretty useless on my phone with the app so I can't find any references to link for you).

The idea behind the steering wheel dance it to shut off ESP, ERM, and Traction Control, (the "nannies"), permanently, so you don't have to shut them off each time the JK is started.
Repeating the steering wheel dance will restore the features to normal.

The switch mod will shut everything off, including ABS, and brake-lock differential.

Steering wheel is centered perfectly.

Maybe I am misunderstanding the dance? I thought the dance would turn off this program permanently, not just until you restarted the engine.

If your JK was not flashed to have the permanent disable feature added, the steering wheel maneuvers you perform will have no effect. What you are seeing is the temporary disable you normally get when you press the ESP button.

My question is to 2007 JK owners: Did this added feature get flashed into any 2007 JKs?

Actually, I can press the ESP button and the brakes still lock up in a curve. No apparent temporary disable going on. Doing the dance does disable everything but only until I shut off the engine.

How do I find out if my 2007 got this flash update?

I don't know what's going on with yours. Mine will disable until I do the dance again. The Owner's Manual Addendum I got when they flashed mine also says that's how it should work.

The ESP disable flash was done at the same time as the HotOil flash for the hot transmission fluid warning.

You may have to ask the dealer to look at your JK's computers to know for sure if you have the ESP disable feature. They will be able to tell you if it works on 2007 JKs.

There is a wire in the console people have installed a switch into, to completely disable all the ESP and ABS functions. With that, you can instantly choose when to shut it off.
If I recall correctly, (and that's a big IF), you can't turn it back on by just closing the switch. You have to close the switch, then restart the engine.
