Hey all, I recently bought a 2010 Wrangler 2dr Sport, wanted a Rubi but this was a deal I couldn't pass up. The only other vehicle I have ever owned was a 2000 Tacoma Prerunner (hence my profile name) that I converted to a 5spd/4x4. Loved it but wanted an upgrade and I have always wanted a Jeep. As of now, the Jeep sits bone stock, other than a set of 285 Firestone Destination AT's that were already on it. I have always run a mud tire, primarily tires from Interco (yeah I know). I plan to purchase a set of 285 MT's here shortly, but wanted some advice. There is a sale on Irok ND's at Four Wheel Parts, with this being an E rated radial tire, could I expect decent tread wear on a 2dr Wrangler? I know a ton of people who run KM2's and that is my next choice if the Iroks seem like a no go. Thanks for any hope my first post isn't too long.

Curious to if plan on running bigger tires anytime soon?

 

Not yet, I wish I could but my budget wont allow it yet. When I have the funds, I plan to install enough lift to clear 35's, regear it to 4.88's, and build bumpers front and rear. Plan to run 35x10.50r17 Super Swamper SSR's when I get there.

 

Well I can't speak for the Iroks but have had KM2's and I did like them as far as off-road and on road except for the fact that they were fairly loud compared to some others.

 

Did you get decent tread life out of them?

 

I replaced them at about 30k but I think I could have ran them till about 40k

 

I can't speak for the tires but e rated sounds a bit extreme. Legit for 10k lbs trailers. Not so much for a jeep that weighs half that. C or d rated tires would be better.

 

I had Goodrich MT tires on my 2012. They still had good tread depth at 50,000 miles. However, wet traction sucked after about 30,000 miles. I only replaced them at 50,000 miles due to the wet traction concern. I go through a traffic circle twice per day. On rainy days my whole Jeep would slide. Fun if not vehicle near you. Not fun in morning commuting traffic. I went with duratrac. Now have 35,000 miles in them and I'm very pleased.

 

Good idea to regear! Don't go 35's without it

 

I would look for a C or D rated tire as well.
