I am looking for recommendations on tires for my JKU, 2011 3.75 auto with AEV Pintler wheels and 2.5 lift. Adding the lift, ARB front bumper with winch, and AEV rear bumper and tire carrier has added a good bit of weight and dropped my mpg. Been running BFG 285/70R17. I am currently looking at:
BFG KO2 in 34x10.50R17
Toyo Open Country ATII extreme in 285/75R17
Cooper SST Pro in 315/75R17

I would prefer a tire that is not too wide, as it is my dd, but I will be spending a week offroad this summer, so am looking for something taller than the 285/70R17. I was leaning toward the BFG because my current set has 70k miles and think that is pretty damn awesome for keeping tread. However, the Cooper is taller and more aggressive, yet the Toyo gets me more height, is lighter, and cheaper.

Thoughts?? Pics would be appreciated too.

I have a 2012 Rubicon with 2" Mopar Lift and 4:11 gears. Added 285/75R17 BFG KM2 MT's (34 x 11.50) and ARB front and rear bumpers and ARB tire carrier, Smittybilt winch. Similar to what you've done. It dropped my mpg also but I used the Superchips Trail Dash 2 87 octane tune and tire size correction to 33.5" to get my speedometer/odometer correct. The 87 Octane tune brought my performance back to as good as new and my highway mpg back to 20. Since I don't keep the Trail Dash 2 on when I'm driving, I'd get the Superchips Flashpaq to do the same if I had to do it over again. They put 9" rims with 4.5" backspacing on mine without asking, 8" or 8.5" would be better.

I'm only running 3.75 gears, and really don't want to have to regear. I am now leaning towards Toyo OC MT's in 285/75R17, but don't think I need backspacing with my rims. I will look into the Superchips too.

 

here are aev pintlers and toyo at2 in 285/75-17. It was a good set up but the pintlers do not like playing in the rocks.
I am now running a set of cooper st maxx in 285/75-17 and I think I like them better than the toyos. I also run a set of toyo r/t in 35's on aev saltas that I really like.

I also had the ko2 in 34x10.5 and they are fine but run very small. I would go coopers or the toyos over them unless you want a true 32" tire.

 

I'm running KO2s and as jadmt said, they run very small. My 37s measure 35 1/4.

That said, I'm very pleased with their overall performance. They are a great answer for someone who is using their rig for a DD. Prior to this I was running KM2s and prior to that I was running Coopers (ST MAXX). The KO2 is the best of the group for OVERALL performance. If I were using my rig for strictly off road use (trailer it) then I'd stick with the KM2 but I didn't like the wet weather and snow performance of the KM2. The KO2 does a MUCH better job of this and still gives me off road performance that nears that of the KM2.

 

ditto on the snow/ice performance of the KO2's they are almost as good as studs on the ice. I actually think the KO2 in 37's would be an ideal tire, not too big not too small.

 

Haven't you heard that Duratracs are the best tire ever?

 

I know they aren't on the list but I just installed some Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my truck. They are INCREDIBLE in the rain. I am very, very happy with them and just ordered a set of 37s for a JKU build I'm starting.

Take a look at those before you make a decision.
