Heard from a knowledgeable source that jeep was keeping the JK in 2018 as well as having the JL. Has anyone else heard this? One can only hope this body style stays around.

 

It seems that I recall hearing the JK and JL would overlap a bit in 2018. I never took that to mean the the JK would stay in production though.....it was just going to be an odd year in '18. I very well could be wrong, but seems like I've seen that somewhere.

 

The old Cherokee plant in Toledo is currently under construction for the JL and the JLU wranglers. The JK facility will continue probably until they run low on parts and then shut down. I doubt we'll see a 2018 JK, most likely just a continued 2017 model. That smaller plant is then supposed to be closed for retooling to manufacture the JLT wranglers. So either a Summer 2018 or fall release for those.

I think the best guess I saw was the JK will go until early Q1 2018.

 

They are still testing the JL running it through its paces here in Michigan. It seems as if they are testing pretty late into the game. Don't they usually start orders in August?

These hokey disguises appear to *intentionally* draw attention to me - they do anything BUT disguise, lol.

A new grill, and a body stripe? Maybe a powerplant? That's it? I sure hope there's more there. I can see the excitement over the JLT though. Its late Summer, and no mention from Jeep - looks like we are at least 3 quarters away from deliveries.

 

There is definitely going to be a 2018 JK. They just announced a tan top and a Golden Eagle edition for it. I'm waiting for the order banks to open up.

Now that I did a google image search, I think I remember those.

Amusingly, the images of the hood decal all show a bald eagle, not a golden eagle.
