2 door corner options nonexistent??
Took some carnage last weekend, and realized the limitations of my rig. Besides needing some Evo Rockstars, and dropping the gas tank skid for a nice sledge-hammer beating...I slid off a rock and backed straight into a tree.
I'm not thrilled with the idea of adding corners to my JK, as it was painful enough drilling a bunch of holes into the paint of a 2015 to install the RockSkins, but I don't think I want to shell out the money for a body shop...especially if this happens again.
Doing some research it looks like I have very limited options for corners. OR-FAB no longer exists, the AEV and Metalcloak corners are bullsh*t, Poison Spyder won't release their new 2 door corners for another year (honestly have no idea what happened to the old ones, their customer service rep couldn't give me a straight answer), and the EVO ones I'd prefer not to f*ck with. Main problem is that I have the Genright aluminum tire carrier, and I'm really not looking to change it as I love the look and weight (EVO is too blingy, especially with their loud logo right in the middle of it).
Sooooo....I'm guessing I'm out of options? I have the EVO RockSkins (rocker armor)...so I originally called Poison Spyder to ask about ordering their corners with some extra metal so I could chop the corner to match my RockSkins. That's when the customer service rep told me they only offer 4 door corners for now.
I should also note that I plan on running the cut plastic fenders forever. I would have way more issues if I had metal fenders, as I regularly push and fold the fenders into trees on tight trails.

If you don't want the AEV then the Genright corners are also out. Have you looked at River Raider? I think that's where Dirtman eventually got his corners in a custom length to fit the comp cut he had going on.
Doesn't seem to be as much love for the two door. We have the same problem with trees so I am considering the Metalcloak skins and removable fenders, I've slid sideways enough times into trees that my fenders will be doomed eventually.
I looked at the River Raiders, but read way too many complaints about fitment issues. Not a stranger to hacking things up and finessing something that doesn't fit right, but I also don't want a major headache.
It's a shame that the 2 door doesn't get much love. If I'd wanted a DD that I'm not going to take on any intense (black and red) trails, I would've bought a 4 door...so why offer all this armor for the 4 door platform and skip the 2 door?
No shade towards the 4 door, but I have absolutely no need for the extra space for my wheeling rig that I occasionally drive to work and school. I don't have kids and my girlfriend hates going wheeling, that's why I bought a 2 door. It's also more capable with less work, hence cheaper. If I did this to a $40-60k unlimited...well, I wouldn't; I'm a finance major and that would be financially autistic in my book. I DD my Kawasaki, can't beat 70 mpg.
Is Poison Spyder even active on these forums? Care to explain why you pulled your 2 door corners off the market? Do you even want my money??

Not for me. They only cover that small little corner. If I'm going to armor it, I'm going all out and covering all that sheet metal. Plus more surface area can probably take a stronger hit.
Not to mention the $360 price tag when the PS ones are $600 for full coverage. AEV is shameless, but that's just my opinion. Not knocking their products, but there are better options for me.

The problem with corner protection is the fact the JK body has a compound bend that curves from the front the the rear and up and down. It makes it hard to build corners due to the fact they need to be pressed and getting those dies is just too much for the number of corners you are going to sell.
Unless you do a big comp cut and remove most of the side and the rear corner the river raider side fit for shit but are strong. Poison spyder used the AEV and simply welded extra to them to go over the fender and protect above the wheel. They are only 1/8" thick though. You can (for could) buy AEV builder corners which are pressed so they fit real good and weld your own extra side armor to it. You should also be able to weld tabs on the back for your Genright tire carrier. You could also get the Genright aluminum corners for the 4 door and cut off the section that is front of the fender.

rust depends on where you live and how you treat your jeep. Where you are I would expect it to rust. not only are the holes a potential place for rust to start but sand and dirt that will get behind the armor and wear thru the paint. Best thing to do is to paint any holes you drill before inserting the body nut rivet and seal the edges of the corners with silicone to keep the debris out of it.
