Default Rock Crawling = Manifold Leak??

So I was playing on the rocks this weekend when I had a huge bolder flop under my drivers side front tire and came down pretty hard on it. Had no other way but to winch and drag right over it. (Worst sound ever - pulling line; "sorry baby sorry baby, please don't flip out on me" haha) So immediately after my engine is make a fluttery noise. Throwing a P2098 code. Scraped and dented the cross member and cross pipe but no cracks or holes to be found. My buddies at the shop think it's probably pulled away a bit at the manifold and manifold gasket. It does look like possibly a bit of black residue by one of the 4 bolts but it's hard to tell.

Hoping to hear from this wonderful bank of JK knowledge.

Thanks in advance everyone.

2013 Rubicon 6spd 4 door with 3.5" lift, 35's and some other goodies too.

Keep the rubber side down.

Yup very likely. Happened to my buddy on his 2014 Rubicon. Hit the crossover and instantly had manifold leak on drivers side.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I have the exact same thing. Do you know what he needed to replace to fix it? New Manifold? Broke a mount bolt? Or just a new gasket?

Thanks!

unfortunately it was an expensive fix as the catalytic convertor on the driver side needed to be replaced as it fubared the mating surface at the manifold and they are one piece item. crazy design. You can see if it is just loose but his bent the flange where it mounts to the manifold and it is a stupid design. He was running a Rancho Ypipe exhaust spacer as was I. I went right home and pulled it off as it made the exhaust hang down about 1/4" below the crossmember.

Crap! I hope it's not going to need the whole cat replaced too. I never did the spacers because I didn't like the idea of making it even more vulnerable.

i'd say the fluttery noise is the dead give away as I was standing by buddy when he did this and immediately was phtt phtt phtt phtt sound. this not his rig but he followed right after me and this where his happened doing the same thing.

x2 never hurts hopefully the fluttering noise is coming from a place that will be cheaper to fix.
