Hi,
Noobie question here. I have a2016 JKU Rubicon, Hard Rock and I want to add a 2.5 lift.
What are your thoughts on both of these kits? Or is there something else out there worth looking into.
Teraflex 2.5" Lift kit with 9550 Shocks. P/N 1251060
Or
Rubicon Express 2.5" RE7141PM
Progressive lift Kit w/ Monotube Shocks

I don't do any hardcore off roading, mainly fire trials.

Thoughts on these.

 

RIght now Amazon has the Mopar 2" lift for 910, that's what I did I love it. Just a thought....

 

Look into BDS system. Comes 100% complete and can has an option to upgrade to Fox 2.0 shocks. Priced right and a no frills lifetime warranty. I have the 3" lift with no regrets. But mine isn't a Rubi...

Yeah, no. That is far from complete.

 

Metal cloak may have something for you. They have really expanded their offerings and give you lots of choices. Many new owners overlook them because they are not sold in the catalogs or 4wd parts. Off road evolution and JKS are worth looking at too.
To be really honest I would put some genright aluminum fenders on it with some bigger tires (35") and skip the lift if you are just running fire roads. You will want wheel back spacing in the 4"-4.5" range. The look is better and your performance will actually increase vs just adding a lift that really does nothing for performance and many times degrades both on road and off road performance. The less you have to do to your suspension the better off you will be for a daily driver.

 

Good advice from the Dirtman. If you really want to proceed definitely look into a few more. The Teraflex kit is a good one, I'd pass on Rubicon Express. Look at the Mopar 2" kit. It's really more like 3", made by Mopars OEM suspension vendor. Also, AEV's 2.5" kit is excellent as well. Check 'em out.

 

 

I have the AEV 2.5" on one of my JKUs. Love the ride, it's better than factory. I'll definitely go that route again when I want to lift jeep #2.

I installed a OME 2" lift kit purchases from Quadrtec complete with Coil springs and new shocks. I also replaced the track bar to an adjustable OME track bar. The ride is terrible and crashes over bumps etc. The handling at higher speeds is squirelly and feels unstable. I noticed that Quadratec has another 2" OME kit that states it is for sport suspension. The one I pruchased states it is for hauling etc. I am not hauling anything. Is it possible that I purchased the wrong kit for my needs and springs are too heavy duty. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I live on Long Island NY and would be willing to take to someone knowledgable in Jeeps and suspensions. Most of the garages are clowns and do not know anything. I end up knowiing more than them. Thanks
