Adding Safari Rack
I am going to be adding a sarafi to my jk when it arrives. So I need a favor if someone can take some measurements for me. I am wanting to put it on the back of the hard top. I need the width from gutter mount to gutter mount and the length from the end of the gutter mount to the back of the hard top. The rack that I am using is a 38x46 Conferr Safari Rack. So the question is will it work and what kind of gutter mounts do I need?
Thanks for any help!

My wife took this photo here in Bryson City, NC at the local gas station. I haven't seen this Jeep around, so they must have been just passing through. I have no idea what type of rack this is on the roof. Seems impossible to take off ANY of the Freedom roof panels though.

i'm running the yakima loadmaster with the gutter attachments for the load bars. currently have two bars supporting the rack, will be adding a third with footpads on the rear and then moving the whole thing back so that I can get to the two roof panels above the driver and passenger.
you were right i was heading down to our land off of Silver Creek mine road. you'll see alot of my jeep once the weather gets warmer, and I can get back on the nanty. Your wife was cute when she asked to take the picture. and nice looking volvo she was driving. wouldn't mind taking it (the volvo) on the tail of the dragon.
take care, and drop me a line if you want to go wheeling. i'm about an hour and a half from you in Greeneville, Tn

I guess it is a stupid question, but that rack is just on the freedom top? Any issues with that? And I guess in the summer it can't be used with the soft top? I suppose that is why people use those racks that come down and mount to the body...but I like the idea even for the winder or long travel where the hardtop makes sense.
I am wanting to mount the rack to the gutter mounts without using any load bars. So I need to know the width to know what length gutter mounts I need.
Can someone take the measuremnets on the hard top?

White H2O, what is the load capacity of the rain gutters, if you know? Have you put any real weight on the rack, and if so, how did the freedom top panels hold up? That is, was there any flex in the removeable panels, water leakage in the seams or impingement with the operation of the doors? Finally, are the gutter rail attachments made for the '07 Unlimited, or if not, what vehicle? I'm liking your idea and may very well copy it. I have seen some Unlimited's with ski rack bars attached to the rain gutters, but they don't have much of a load on them. Thanks.
