Default Reoccurring problems

Okay rant: so this is now my 4th wrangler, 3rd JK and honestly I'm getting tired of fixing (or attempting to anyway) the same problems. Jeep is experiencing death wobble at 104,000 miles... It only happens between 55-60mph. In the past this came from lifting it, now I left it alone and here we are again. I get the balljoints need replacing after 40,000 miles or so but god damn. The Jeep itself is costing me an arm and leg, I can't afford to put it in the shop every year. Attemped to rotate tires front to back and back to front thinking it might help with the wobble if its balance related, only to run into a lug nut that would rather bend and twist than just screw off. Upon starting the Jeep in the morning, it dry starts everytime no matter what the weather is. I'm using expensive 5w-20 as directed by the manual with a K&N oil filter.

Why are Jeeps so needy...... How can something so expensive have such cheap, rusting parts.

I don't like the jeep brand lug nuts as they have a thin shield over the nut itself. They do make kits which can extract this rounded nut then I would get one of the McGard acorn style lugs. Plus I would avoid those shops that use the high pressure air guns to lug your wheels and they tend to have the psi set too high. I like the personal approach of using my own lug wrench but thats becoming an issue we'll have to deal with in the future. I mean I tell the shops to not over tighten these wheels because if I cant get the wheel off myself, my wife can't either.
As for the wobble, all i can tell you is what I've read cause we've just picked up this jeep in April. I guess one need to create a check list here for all to follow when searching for the culprit. Check wheels for balance, ball joints, worn suspension parts etc I mean even if the wheel is lug centric this could have an effect as the wheels would rotate oblong or out of sync.

It’s really hard to tell where you’re coming from build wise. You say you’ve left this one alone, but your profile says you’re running 37s

You have a jeep with 104k miles. You’re going to have wear and tear items. If you are indeed running 37s, it’s adding a lot more additional stress to the entire system. Out of balance wheels can trigger a wobble, but they are not the CAUSE of a wobble. You have with 1) a bad component/joint in the system, 2) undertorqued bolt in the system, 3) combination of 1 and 2, or 4) wallowed out brackets.

You can’t expect to modify a vehicle and not have to be on top of things. I find it completely acceptable for issues like this to pop up, at which time the owner needs to address the issue and fix appropriately. We all know what the common issues are, and what the real fixes are for them. Now, if it’s something that is not suspension/steering related….and actually related to $hit manufacturer parts……like radiator for example, then there’s a legitimate gripe.

As far as lugs go.....have owned many vehicles that the factory lugs were just as bad.....as one would expect. They're crap that needs to be upgraded.

Yeah, like resharp001 said... you're post is a bit confusing.

One of the most typical issues is track bar related. Either the ends worn or, occasionally, the axle side bracket will wallow out the bolt hole (happens when track bar isn't torqued to specification.).

Additionally, what usually occurs is that you have one part wear out, this part (part A) causes more stress on another part (part B) in the steering system and that leads to death wobble. Then you fix the first part (part A) you find that's out of norm and stop. Everything works again for a while because you're under the threshold of death wobble until part B (which you didn't fix) causes the system to prematurely wear another (part C or the same part, part A) out and now you have death wobble again.

Inspect the entire system because that's what it is... a system and the parts in this system affect each other.

Have a look at this thread from Planman, it's pretty good.
